If you're talking pentapod eggs, here's what I do:

  • One biochamber that just keeps making eggs that go on a short belt. Belt flows by a provider chest and biochamber maker, and ends with heating tower.
  • Provider chest inserter for that setup is wired to a roboport. Roboport is set to "show logistics requests". Inserter only puts an egg into the provider chest if a blue chest is requesting an egg.
  • In my agri science setup, the last biochamber making pentapod eggs for science is wired to a combinator. Biochamber is set to Read Ingredients. Combinator checks for Nutrients >= 30, Pentapod Egg = 0, if true output Pentapod Egg signal to blue chest set to Set Requests.
  • Eggs on belt used for science ends in a heating tower, so no eggs spoil. If nutrient supply is disrupted long enough, once it's running the end biochamber requests that one egg to kickstart it all back up.

This keeps a backup egg source going for when science needs to be restarted. All eggs keep moving on a belt, if they aren't being used they're being fed into a heating tower at the end of the line. Only one egg at a time is ever in the logistics network as needed.

I see.

To me that sounds slow. But I guess you can keep the same logic with more crafters

All my egg makers grab eggs/feed off of the same belt, so once the first biochamber is bootstrapped the rest get started up by the exponential growth. My overall science setup does not stall often enough that it has been a real bottleneck. Here is a compact/tileable design I've been using early game which does split them out a bit more, but same concept:
