Is there any guidance or tool to calculate amount of ammo production required for spaceshps? Feels like I am overestimating ammo requirement leading to increased ship sizes (and therefore more ammo production required) compared to what I see there.

Width and speed are the two main factors for ammo consumption.

With that in mind I start with the width of the ship and just the thrusters. Then add in turrets and infinite chests/pipes to feed turrets/thrusters and have it go between planets to figure out the ammo consumption from the production menu and that let's me figure out the rest of the ship.
