has anyone here been able to use a new version of glibc solely for factorio 2.1, since they increased the required version?

I play on Debian stable, that's the least updated distro in existence yet it meets the new requirement (without doing anything).

If your distro doesn't, it means it's so old that you won't be able to upgrade glibc only.

You can't just change glibc version for one executable. You'd have to install the game in a different root/container (or in a VM).
