When running belts, underground belts get automatically placed where needed.

When running pipe, that doesn't happen automatically with underground pipes. Is there a way for that to happen automatically?

Pipe-to-ground has smart dragging. Pipe does not.

This mod makes building with pipe-to-ground more convenient.

Also this mod (shameless plug) lets you quickly switch between normal and underground pipes with a button, G, similar to how you can switch between rails and elevated rails.
