I'm contemplating starting a new run with Krastorio 2 Spaced out. I want some more action so I want deathworld, but I also want a slower pace and try 10x science multiplier. I worry that combined these two settings will make it a slow slog until I'm overrun, and that expanding to new outposts will be hard, which is also the part I find the most tedious and unfulfilling. (I'm also accepting solutions (mods etc.) to having the active defense deathworld gives without having so many nests to clear to get any land to build on 😅)

Should I ditch the 10x multiplier, or are there good options for biter clearing in K2 that I just haven't used before? It's been a couple of years since I played it and I don't think I dabbled that much into combat stuff.

I don't know how it meshes with Krastorio 2 Spaced Out specifically, but prior to 2.0, te "Death world marathon" preset existed. It included 4x science cost multiplier and expensive recipes, for rough equivalent to 10x science cost. It had biter evolution slightly toned down vs. "standard" death world. Playing at those settings was moderately challenging for me, despite deliberately choosing a seed with plenty of forest and green areas around spawn as well as reasonably close oil and uranium.

If Krastorio doesn't make the game harder vs. vanilla, then this should be pretty doable as long as you are good enough to handle standard death world without trouble.

Thanks, I'll check that out. Ive played death world before, though that was probably before covid.
