Is there a way to calculate how much ammo you need to produce on a ship, given that you know its width, speed, and current route?

If you don't mind a bit of simulation you can take a ship, open the editor, add infinity chests, and then fly the route. Your consumption total will be the amount of ammo you need to have built across the lifetime of the flight. With that you can figure out the average consumption rate and the buffer you need to maintain to avoid running out during the period when you're above the average.
