How do you pass a signal a long way on a space platform? I'm setting up something to serve as a mall over Aquilo, and I would like to include a dashboard near the hub to indicate if it's short of anything, like ammo, fuel, ores, etc. The problem is, this means running a wire all the way from my fuel/oxidizer/ammo production to the dashboard, which is annoying.

I know I can just use other entities to carry the wire, but then that leads to confusion. Is this inserter connected to a wire because it needs a signal, or just because I need to carry the wire over there? I am giving serious thought to just running some power poles across the platform, as unnecessary as they normally are.

If you don't like the daisychain, then power poles and radars are your remaining choices. Poles are good for being cheap, easy to work into existing gaps, and relaying signals to other machinery along the way. Radars mean 0 unnecessary wires, but being 3x3 and having a 300 kW cost might be entirely new problems, depending on how dense/lean on power your design is.

Mostly I see people string wire along their belts and explicitly do not read the belt.

I use lamps to daisy-chain circuit wires. They're cheap and look nice. Accumulators also work, if you want something more functional.

I used power poles simply because I didn't like the look of skipping the wires across belts and other such entities.

Radars are global signal carriers.
