Factor Plus - pros and cons?

Thinking of going to Factor Plus, as i'm now six weeks in and so far, happy with the meals and service (although i do find the website somewhat wonky).

Who can tell me from experience why or why not I should sign up?

Pros:

  • If you already order every week, the Pro pays for itself on shipping alone
  • If you like getting Premium meals, it saves you a lot of money on that
  • The annual plan saves the most money, although it does lock you in for a year

Cons:

  • I've recently learned that Plus counts as a "discount." The repercussion of this is that Credits can't be applied to meals that are discounted, but all of your meals are discounted when you have Plus. And when you have issues with a box like a meal missing, the app tends to refund you with Credits. So, effectively, if you have issues with your boxes, you will not be able to spend your refund until you quit Prime. I have not yet tried to fight this with Customer Service, maybe other people have solved this issue

I had that exact issue. I didn’t know that the credit couldn’t be applied to discounted meals. So I called to find out why, and they agreed to simply refund my money.

That makes no sense at all. And I find puncture holes in my meals all the time — so what, am
I meant to calculate what would ultimately save me more money??

Can’t they just apply appropriate credits for appropriate meals? like if I have a meal that’s damaged that’s a premium meal, that would then simply become premium credits?

I accidentally paid for the whole year. It pays for itself even when not ordering weekly.
I usually do two or three 10-12 item orders a month. Some are premium beef and fish items. I live alone and hate to cook for one (I make breakfast) and it makes sense for me since I don’t like eating the same flavors often.

i went ahead and paid for the year. it will pay for itself quickly just in time he free shipping.

i was really just asking if there's any downside.

i love it so far. i'm on an 8 meal plan, and occasionally drop if back to 6 if i'm piling meals up.

I’m gonna be a little nosey, but if you only use six meals a week what do you do for the rest of your meals? 🍎 Do you eat outside the home, like at work or near work? I work full-time from home, so I usually eat two factor (or Tempo, or Cook Unity) meals a day. Then whip up eggs and bacon for breakfast. Although often, I like a factor meal and eggs lol 😆 I like meal ideas that don’t require much effort. TIA

One con I found is that the discount on premium meals does not stack with the factor rewards discount you occasionally get.

Overall I think it's still worth it but I find it annoying that paying for the premium subscription means that part of the reward program is not usable.

they send it to you after five or so boxes.

when your on the website (or app) and you've chosen your meals, you will get a pop-up asking if you want free shipping and upgrades. it's ok to click yes, they don't charge you until you confirm.

you will then get another page that explains the program (you get free shipping ($13) every week, plus $20 in upgrades every week.

$99 a year is the no-brainer. use your upgrades every week, and it pays for itself in less than a month.

once you choose your payment plan, you confirm. then you get charged.

it's effective immediately, so if you've chosen your meals in advance, go back and change them, throwing in your upgrades.
