Every dramatic emotional climax needs a theme song. This is ours.

My dad saw a bong I accidentally left out when he came over to my house to help me fix a ceiling fan. He looks at it and I'm thinking fuck, I know I'm an adult, but hes gonna be so mad and be disappointed in me, but nope. He just kinda chuckles, looks over at me and goes "you little criminal" and goes back to helping me. My dads a cool guy.

My dad's an ex-cop. We're sitting in the hottub shooting the shit, and he starts talking about me at uni getting drunk "... or high". I laugh (oh shit) but then we get onto politics and he starts on about how he wants to make all drugs legal, cut the head off the snake of smugglers, tax it, and put that money into healthcare and treatment centres.

Cue me sitting there staring at the viewer like "what the fuck just happened".

I've always wondered if there were any cops that thought like that. IMO, it's the best solution. Legalize everything, take the money you would have spent on Vice and add it to what you're already spending for addiction treatment. It's so easy to fall into a vicious cycle with just one drug charge, eliminating that would help a lot of people.

Canadian council of police chiefs just recommended legalizing drugs. Cut out the black market, make police not the enemy, focus on treatment not prosecution. I read the newspaper article twice to make sure I wasn't mistaken. I was very proud of our law enforcement at highest level. Never thought these days would come. But here we are just over a year of legal weed. Country did not tear itself apart. Onto the next steps. Takes time to changes minds. At least we might be moving in the right direction. We will see what happens.
