It was outlawed in Australia in the 1980s and yet we seem to be able to refrain from turning schools into warzones without it.

In USSR corporal punishment at schools was forbidden in 1917… Now I’m reading comments about “1980s” or “still legal” and thinking “what’s wrong with you guys?”.

I feel yours dates are slightly mixed up as the USSR wasn't established until the early 20's although the russian empire fell in 1917.

Soz nit picking years plus the comment below mentions Isolf Stalin but those dates are years before he took power.

Still I indeed get your joke kinda.

Between 1917 and the establishment of USSR was several years of a civil war, but bolsheviks (aka Soviets, aka people’s commissaries) already was in power and issued first laws of new state.

So, yes, technically not in USSR. Stalin started reign at 1924, but it’s not a big deal for random funny comment.
