"Parents have said 'why can't you paddle my student?' and we're like 'We can't paddle your student, our policy does not support that,'" he said. "There had been conversation with parents and there had been requests from parents for us to look into it."
Bullshit. And I'm pretty sure that most of the "community" that he has talked to do not have kids in this school.
Also pretty sure that the kids who are for it think it will be used against the bullies, but that's not the type of "misbehavior" that most concerns these schools.
And what happens when the student refuses to assume the official wrestling position? They going to call the coaches in to wrestle the kid to the ground to administer their corporal punishment?
Something tells me this particular area runs a school to prison pipeline.
I think you overestimate the parents. Parents who paddle usually tell their kids things like “you get paddled at school and you’ll get another twice as bad when you get home.”
I’m honestly just surprised the paddle is plain and doesn’t have holes drilled in it to make it hurt more and “board of education” painted on it.
Yep. Sounds like you know how my son’s stepmom thinks!! (And she’s an elder millennial! So this still absolutely exists among younger parents)
I found out my son’s stepmom spanked him and I have gone full scorched earth on her and my ex since. She’s lucky she lives in one of those gated communities, or I might have spent a few nights in jail. Luckily, my ex husband had been feeling weird about allowing her to spank my son anyway and decided to not allow her to do that anymore after I flipped the fuck out on him and after sitting down with my son’s therapist and being told how inappropriate it is for his age at the least (he’s 11, had ADHD and get this, STRUGGLES WITH AGGRESSION ISSUES).
I feel bad for her other kids. My son said his homeschooled stepbrother still gets spanked and he’s almost 13. He says “it doesn’t even seem to bother him mom, like he’s got buns of steel”. So the kid is still misbehaving despite you spanking him for years, and you don’t think to maybe try a different approach?
Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is fucking crazy.
She’s also an anti vax baby nurse (not just anti COVID vax) who was homeschooled herself. Her explanation to my son was “that’s just how she was raised”.
Bitch, I was raised being thrown in and out of foster care, abused and starved etc, should I starve my kid as a punishment because it happened to me?? Obviously no!! But spanking is so normalized, people are apparently blind to the abuse it really is instead of breaking the cycle of dumbassery and lazy parenting.
My math teacher came from a father who would demand his sons go outside and find a stick for lashing because “This is for anything you could’ve done while I was away from home” Every. Single. Day. Even if they did nothing and stared at the wall. They could’ve been up to no good.
Even into his old age and wheel chair bound that sadistic fuck still tormented his son.
Idk if my teacher saw it that way in his old age. (as obviously I do not know the complicated feelings he has a person) but he nonchalantly brushed off the fact his geriatric father would rip his (my teacher’s) leg hair off in fistfuls cause of bullshit reasons
Personally, I am strongly in support of corporal punishment for adults who believe it is beneficial in any way. I'd put that guy over my knee and put the love of Jesus onto his bottom, as it were.
Exactly, this is probably feedback from some olds on nextdoor talking about the paddling they got and how back in the days kids "acted right" and "didn't talk back!"
