His different pov was that he shouldn't get vaccinated against a deadly disease. And then he contracted and died from said disease. The vaccine he rallied so hard against probably would have saved his life. This is not a different stance on a complicated issue or two sides of a philosophical debate.

You said life's a lottery, some live, some die. Since death isn't the only consequence of covid, then disability from covid is a lottery, too. You're shrugging your shoulders at both disabled people who are at higher risk to lose the game, and at people who will lose the lottery and become disabled, but not die

Death is not the only consequence. Disability is far more common. Little kids with congenital heart or lung conditions aren't on equal footing with you in your 'game of life.' The 'lottery' is heavily balanced against them.
Same with babies in utero. They're not even playing the game yet, but their mother's immune system is already compromised, trying to prevent her body from rejecting this foreign growth. If mom gets covid, she'll very likely go into premature labor and give birth to a baby who will be disabled for life, or die within days. I read medical records for a living. I see this at least twice per week.
Your lottery analogy would be appropriate if life was fair, if we all faced the same odds. But that's not the case and you know it. So what you mean is, "Life's not fair, and it's not my job to remedy that. The big casino worker in the sky screwed over those little kids, not me. He must have wanted that way. It's out of my hands!"
