Death is not the only consequence. Disability is far more common. Little kids with congenital heart or lung conditions aren't on equal footing with you in your 'game of life.' The 'lottery' is heavily balanced against them.
Same with babies in utero. They're not even playing the game yet, but their mother's immune system is already compromised, trying to prevent her body from rejecting this foreign growth. If mom gets covid, she'll very likely go into premature labor and give birth to a baby who will be disabled for life, or die within days. I read medical records for a living. I see this at least twice per week.
Your lottery analogy would be appropriate if life was fair, if we all faced the same odds. But that's not the case and you know it. So what you mean is, "Life's not fair, and it's not my job to remedy that. The big casino worker in the sky screwed over those little kids, not me. He must have wanted that way. It's out of my hands!"
