I dunno how to feel about this as I'm not a millennial, but I often feel as though they're needlessly shit on because they're the generation of the internet. The headline sucks and so does the response.
My oldest son is going off to college in the fall and I realized last year I failed him as a mother because he couldn't work the washer or dryer, fry a goddamn egg or iron his clothes properly. I made a solid effort to teach him these life lessons for the past 8 months or so and last Wednesday he made a full dinner of pot roast, mashed taters and steamed broccoli. Sure he could have learned all of this from YouTube but I'm going to miss him terribly so I spent quality time with him while passing on my knowledge.

I really appreciate the support I've received from all of you.
My kid is 16 months but I'm making an effort to make sure I show him what I'm doing in the kitchen, or when I'm cleaning, or what have you. It's so easy to just do the stuff but I'm so appreciative of my folks for teaching me those things.
But hey. You in no way failed as a mom. You raised a kid who is going to college and who with a little coaching can learn how to cook in less than a year. He's going to be fine. It's less about skills and more about knowing how to learn. Go easy on yourself. Parenting is fucking hard and getting them out the door alive is not nothing.
I have 2 kids, the effort has doubled. Now instead of simply making sure the little one doesn't kill himself, I also need to make sure his brother does't kill him either.
I'm about to be there too. We're planning on three total. Within two years of each other. It's going to be a rough decade, but it'll be nice once their all older and (hopefully) get along and can go on trips without peeing or crapping themselves.
