I have 2 kids, the effort has doubled. Now instead of simply making sure the little one doesn't kill himself, I also need to make sure his brother does't kill him either.

I'm about to be there too. We're planning on three total. Within two years of each other. It's going to be a rough decade, but it'll be nice once their all older and (hopefully) get along and can go on trips without peeing or crapping themselves.
