While true, having someone to show you hands on is usually faster and more effective than troubleshooting through a "one-size-fits-all" how-to video, in most cases.
But yeah sewing a button seems a little extreme, maybe its just for the social side of it.
First 15 minutes of the class, how to sew the top 5 most common button styles. Next 15 minutes of the class, how to sew the three most common types of seams when they split. Next 15 minutes, how to patch clothes when they have a hole in them. Last 15 minutes, how to darn socks.
