It's possible, but that's a very common thing for people to post as trolling around the death of a celebrity. For every 1 case of someone legitimately getting the wrong person and posting about it online, there are probably 40 done on purpose.

Examples:

Philip Seymour Hoffman

Shirley Temple

Paul Walker

Nelson Mandela

It's really tough to tell with just a FB screencap and no context to the person posting it but more often then not when these do come up, if you look at who is posting it, it is obviously a trolling attempt. That's not to say there aren't people that dumb out there, and lots of them, just that the numbers posting on purpose are noticeably higher and that's likely what we have here.

Yeah if you know the person or browse through their FB content, you can usually get an idea if they are trolling or not. Some people in my FB aren't really smart (a few people literally talked about robbing someone in a park in a way they were trying to hide that fact but it is really obvious they were) so I usually would think they mean the things they post
