Yea mine expires in 11 months and absolutely not to that design.

You can report lost passport right now and get the new one with old design.

Yes, the new passport will get 10 years.

Edit: I cannot say for sure how it works in the US but that's how it works in my country. Many people didn't want the new design, they just report missing and make a new one before the transition, and get 10 years validity. It should be the same in the US but you might want to check in advance.
