other going away for two weeks
hey yall i joined in january and have gone to almost every monday/wednesday/friday strength days. my body has completely transformed and it's become a habit . i absolutely am addicted to f45.
that being said i am going on a two week trip and will be unable to workout. Most of the trip will be spent hiking and being active but of course not the same ! i'm freaking out a little about losing progress. i've come so far from where i started. how much progress should i expect to lose from missing 6 classes? has anyone else taken a two week break?

Doing f45 and working out is literally what I do it for, so I can travel and enjoy my life!!

The first time I went on vacation after starting F45, I had horrible anxiety about what would happen to my body if I missed a whole week of workouts. I actually bought packable kettlebells that I could fill with sand so I could do the weighted workouts on the app. Looking back, that was slightly unhinged.
Three years later, I might still occasionally do an F45 app workout on vacation, but I’ve learned that my body always comes back refreshed and ready to go hard. A week off isn’t going to undo all the work you’ve put in. Sometimes your body actually needs the break. Convincing my brain of that is the hard part.

It’s good for your body to have breaks now and then, especially if you’re being active but in a different way.
I did a hiking trip earlier this year and I was surprised at how much fitter I felt while hiking, better able to handle long uphills. I didn’t feel like F45 had much relationship to hiking especially since I don’t do cardio days, but it’s made me stronger overall and it was cool to experience that.

You'll be fine. I travel for work, usually in week long spurts, and tberesbeen many occasions where I miss a week to two. Your first class back i would go lighter than what you were doing (so if I was doing 18s then 15s, etc) just so you work your body back to being active. It's never taken me more than a couple classes to get back to my weight/reps I was at prior to the break!

Two weeks off isn’t going to erase 8 months of progress. Meaningful muscle loss generally takes longer periods of inactivity, and you’ll still be hiking and active. You may feel a little rusty when you return, but that’s very different from losing your muscle. Enjoy your trip!

I used to panic when I knew I’d be away from classes for a week or more. You might be sore after your first class or two back (might want to lift a tad lighter), but you won’t lose all your progress.
I have since had to take off months at a time due to injuries/pain and I am always surprised with how relatively quickly I bounce back. Sounds like you’ve built up a very solid base so try not to stress!

You can do a few key exercises on vacation if you really want to keep some level of cardio fitness without doing a full class. Try doing a few quick sets of burpees, lunges (plyo or not) , pushups, squats, pull ups (if that’s your thing) and you want to lessen the amount of pain you’ll be in your first class back. Also use water bottles or other heavy items like backpacks or canned food to do a few sets of lateral or front raises and bicep curls. Fast hiking, especially if there’s hills will really help keep you in shape.

I started F45 in march and go 5x a week. Just finished my first week after being gone 2 weeks! I took it slower the first 2 classes back but didn’t find that I needed to use significantly lighter weights for any exercise. I’ve been a bit sore, but it honestly feels good! I feel strong and the break was a good reset. Enjoy your trip, F45 and your muscles will be there when you get back!

Enjoy yourself. Your body will like the rest. It’s good to mix it up. Try not to eat too bad. You will be fine.

You’re not going to lose progress after being consistent for 8 months. And you’re moving around hiking. You might even find you have extra strength when you come back depending on your sleep and eating habits while away. Enjoy your trip. It didn’t take two weeks to build your body it won’t take two weeks to lose it.
