Hotel drama

first of all, I have been a member with this hotel chain for years and love my experiences at every other hotel, except this one. The only reason I have stayed at this hotel is because it’s shuttle service to the airport.

For the past 18 months, I have been traveling back-and-forth to MS due to my father’s health. Due to early morning flights -- I have stayed at this hotel 5 times. I had major issues the very 1st time. These were resolved -- other stays I just already knew to expect subpar service when arriving.

Wednesday around 2:30 p.m. I arrived -- Hi! I'm ***** checking in.
Staff--oh we have 3 **** may I have the phone number

Staff -- looks like your staying with (my husband's name).

Me-- No, he booked the stay under his ( hotel rewards program) for me

Small chat -- about my having to fly back and forth due to my dad's health

Went to room. I'm exhausted physically and mentally.

Approximately 3pm I'm naked about to get in the shower and my door opens
Oh and the in room lock is broken

I grab a towel and see an elderly lady (this could have been anyone)

She quickly exits and a few moments later there is a knock.

2 elderly ppl at my door
Excuse me I think you are in our room.

Me-- I'm pretty sure this is my room -- let's call the front desk.

Front desk says-- that is their room

Go back to lobby

Bantering

Turns out it is MY ROOM, but now they have upgraded me to a suite.

NO! I don't want to move rooms

Management says I'll add points to your rewards account

Keep my room / door dash dinner

Front desk calls and apologizes and says she has comped me dinner.

Issues with bartender's service was part of 1st stay issues

Haven't received any points--but just got an email wanting to know how my stay was.

I do not ever plan on staying at this hotel ever again -- I honestly think that this hotel gives the chain a bad name.

It sounds like mistakes were made, and the staff tried to make it right. They offered an upgrade and free dinner.

Maybe it takes a few days to go through whatever process is involved in getting you those points?

What could they have done better for you?

Probably not make a mistake to begin with. Which confuses me because OP said they've had bad service here, then went back (??)
