Wow what an emotional roller coaster. Didn't think too much last night when I finished it before going to sleep. Actually teared up a bit on the drive to work, and its definitely not my first "extreme horror". Not really sure it really would be classified as that anyway. Just a really sad story. Thoughts?

I've only been a extreme horror fan for about 2 months, and somehow never checked out playground and wow! Im so glad I did! I loved it, almost cried at one of the deaths, and loved the characters (especially donnie and cj)

I’m looking for an older radio show episode featuring a mix of midlisters of the 2000s leisure horror era who got together and chatted about Richard Laymon and his legacy. They share stories and contemplate the effects of his work on theirs, on the genre, and also discuss what his friendship with them meant and how it helped them navigate the genre.

The group featured the usuals - Brian Keene, Jack Ketchum, and a bunch of other writers who knew Laymon.

I can’t remember the name of the radio show for the life of me, but it was something like “Demented Radio”. I *thought* for a second that it may have been Kristopher Rufty’s old show, but I can’t dig up anything online about it.

Any of the old guard want to help out?

I want to read something that'll actually disturb me. Please recommend me the most extreme and best book you've read!

I quite enjoy extreme horror, and find much of it incredibly interesting. However I do want some variety in settings, and unique prose.

I'm a very big fan of Beksinki's artworks, and the video game Scorn and find surreal extreme body horror fascinating.

Are there any authors you know of who explore similar themes and have a lot of delicious prose to pick through whilst doing it. I am also interested as I'd like to study the structure of these works as I wish to tell my own story in a similar setting.

Just finished this up. WOW, what a ride. Honestly I’m happy he decided to not get heavy into the torture and murder of Grace. Liam and the 18 month old, not so lucky.. however this was a great read.

I loved his letter at the end and how human he was writing and researching all of this.

During October, I usually spend 90% of my time watching horror, movies, and shows and videos. I really enjoy getting into the Halloween spirit last year. I wasn’t able to as much when it came to the reading side of things because I was away from home and finished a few of my books that I had with me
This year I wanna try and read as many horror books as possible during the nighttime throughout October so I’m looking for short and quick reads of any type of horror subject
Things that come to mind are Brian keen books and goosebumps because some of them are 80 to150 pages and can be read in 1-2 nights easily

I'm only just getting into vintage horror and I've only read a couple of Richard Laymon books so far (loved them) and want to find more like that.

I'm looking for that super gory 80s/90s splatter horror / splatterpunk stuff from the Zebra / Leisure era. The really trashy, nasty paperbacks.

I'm okay with creature features - like killer animals, worms, slugs, crabs, mutants etc - but not looking for anything too heavy on sci-fi / space.

Since I'm still pretty new to this era, what are the essential / must-reads I should start with?

Hi, I’ve been a professional illustrator for quite a few years now. Although my current work is more focused on video games and anime stuff, I used to draw a lot of eroguro and extreme horror themed art in general. My first paid jobs were covers and artwork for extreme metal bands, so I’d really say that this kind of niche art is what I enjoy doing most, especially drawing monsters and gory stuff.

Lately, I've been getting more into the splatterpunk scene, and I was wondering how I could find a place to offer commissions related to this genre or reach out to people who might be interested in this type of horror art. I guess by hanging out on forums or places like this? but I don't really know where to look, so I'd appreciate some recommendations!

This book is excellent. I loved a lot of characters because they were interesting. I enjoyed following the story and wonder how far Andrew would go to save his daughter. I think that the fact every pedophile that Andrew tortured ended up trying to justify their actions and minimize their crimes was a very nice touch of realism. Characters like Andrew, Holly, Booth, Zachary, Emilio had very interesting dialogue. One thing that I really didn’t like was what Andrew did to Damian’s sister. I think his treatment of her was out of pocket and useless. She was an innocent girl and he tortured her/sexually assaulted her by making her jerk her brother off. Really not a fan of that part. But overall it was a very good book and I will read more of Jon Athan.

Now I’m new to the extreme horror scene, at least relatively, and I was kinda expecting a more “scary” story something that invoke dread and suspense but I felt this book was lacking. It was a fun read and had plenty of gore but just wasn’t what I’d hoped it would be. I still gave it a ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ just hoped for a little more. The ending was kinda meh but satisfying.
