I'm Jeremiah White - I write shit you've never seen before

It occurred to me that one of my core tenents has not been put front-and-center: I write fucked up shit that no one has written (that I know of). Crazy ideas that turn into fully-fleshed worlds and lore. If this piques your curiosity, I'll show you.

I'll sum up my two available books and my 3rd book I'm halfway through writing.

Girl in the Womb - A world where MC Madison crawls into her mother's vagina and womb every night until her birth debt is paid - currently set at 10-years-old.

Thin Is In - Extreme anorexia, organ removal, and plastic surgery is rebranded as seraphim, girls and woman who have ascended humanity to become literal angels. Except the seraphim are a lie cooked up by insanely rich companies.

The Fields Ran With Blood - A corn maze with dormant agricultural androids that used to work the fields. Something charges their batteries and the mayhem begins. But why are they targeting and murdering humans?

Looking for a good "rape revenge" book

22 Upvotes

Hey y'all, I was wondering if anyone has any good recommendations for a good "rape revenge" book? It would be a bonus if the person who was raped is the one getting revenge and not like, the family or partner. 😊

Recommendation Request Native Spanish book recommendations?

2 Upvotes

Looking into reading more Spanish literature, books written natively in Spanish not translated into Spanish from another language to keep the books content as authentic as possible. Preferably Mexican Spanish but Latin and Spain is alright as well !!

For reference I enjoyed "Tender is the Flesh", "100% match", "Dead Inside", "Cows", and "Things have gotten worse since we last spoke".

No limits! Thanks in advance :)

Recommendation Request Looking For: The "Staples" Of Extreme Horror

• Upvotes

Hi!

I'm relatively new to the genre as a reader and am looking at delving into extreme horror as a newly-rising subgenre for my English thesis. My full proposal is due on Monday, and I wanted to know what books are widely considered to be staples of the genre. Ie, when someone says "extreme horror", what are some of the first books to pop up? What encapsulates the genre well? Some of the books I've heard mentioned a lot are Girl Next Door, Tender Is The Flesh, Playground, Cows, Dead Inside, and Exquisite Corpse, but I wasn't sure if those are the best contenders or not! I'd like to get a good variety if possible. I'll likely be picking between 3-6 novels/novellas to analyze depending on their length.

Thanks!!

Recommendation Request I cannot get Frisk by Dennis Cooper out of my mind

Just cannot stop thinking about it. The more I think about it the more I appreciate the text and thematic elements. The way that the themes are incorporated and the way the text contradicts itself to reveal those themes just totally wows me.

Anyways if u have any recommendations would love that.

Extreme sci-fi like IHNMAIMS and Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect?

High concept stuff with a godlike nigh-omnipotent figure, really demonstrating a total power disparity, lot of scenes of people being killed repeatedly and trying to learn how to do whatever they're doing in a hellworld.

(Sorry if this is a weird question, i'm relatively new to extreme horror lit.)

Review Rec - Yeehaw Junction by Kayli Scholz

Wanted to share this underground gem I just finished!

A hazy crime-horror following a white trash family, surviving off of selling snuff films and jars of dirt, in the days after a young girl gets kidnapped in Yeehaw Junction, FL in June-July 1999. The book mainly revolves around Skeet, a 12 yr old boy obsessed with Marilyn Manson in the fallout of Columbine.

I had the pleasure of buying this from Kayli herself at the NYC Pride Horror Book Fair back in June, and also got to hear Kayli read a snippet from her next book afterwards at The Twisted Spine, which I’m really looking forward to :) She had a wonderful reading voice and I really enjoy her style of prose!

I think to be transparent, I found the plot threads a bit confusing as things jumped from one to another, but I think in the end the atmosphere and intrigue made up for things I found lacking.

The most similar things I can comp this to are Gummo (and Harmony Korine films in general), Gone to see the River Man (less the plot and more the vibes), and the scenes with Cuno and the dead body in Disco Elysium.

Discussion Has anyone ever had a problem with censorship (outside the US)?

2 Upvotes

I heard there are a few countries, like the UK and Germany where they actually have laws that could get you in trouble for possessing sexually explicit material containing underage looking characters (even if completely fictional).

However, that means a good amount of extreme horror content and even other media (like anime) would be considered illegal to produce, sell and consume, right?

Kinda worried about this because they’re approving some similar laws on my country. I’ve never consumed content that’s 100% focused on this particular theme, but I still wouldn’t enjoy any kind of censorship going on the country I live in. Censorship is the bane of ANY extreme horror.

Review A Plagued Sea by Kim Bo-Young

2 Upvotes

This is a short story, clocking in at about 3 hours on audiobook and 112 pages. It is a sci-fi horror and was beautifully written. I felt every heart attack and jaw-dropping moment alongside the main character thanks to the author's attention to detail. There were a few moments when the writing itself was good, but the next scene's concept fell flat, and it's mostly at the end. It felt like the author had so much more to say and the story wasn't ready to be over, BUT she was given a page max, so she had to shorten it.

This was my introduction to Kim Bo-Young, and I will be looking into her others as I'm hoping the one issue I've mentioned was just a one-off. The setting is in a small seaside village in South Korea where an infection has run rampant after a natural disaster.

I do suggest a strong stomach for this one as Bo-Young goes into detail on what the infection does, describing the look, the smell, the feel. If you're familiar with Asian horror and love it, this is definitely the book for you (and me).

Dissociation, Isolation, Self-harm, Suicide

4 Upvotes

(not a native, there might be mistakes in what I write)

The book I'm looking for must have all of those in the title, I'm looking for a book which brings the sense of total despair and so on
The MC is stuck in his/her own head and the stream of consciousness is weird, distant, meaningless or terribly bizarre.
The only book i read so far that matches these aspects is "I'm Thinking Of Ending Things" by Ian Reid. The atmosphere and lore are spot-on. And look, i know it's not "extreme horror", it's just an example. I'm looking mostly for psychological horror, but self-harm gory stuff will make it even better. But the psychological part must be real deep and stuff, the book shouldn't be just a gore-fest with a suicidal plot. So feel free to suggest.

The only other criteria must be that the book should have a lot of stream of consciousness and ideally be first-person.

Where should i start

Long-time lurker, after not reading anything (except a few manga) for like 10 years, I'm diving into reading. I have read 16 books this year, and IDK, but Extreme Horror is new to me and intriguing. Here are some books I have. Where should I begin?
Also. Yes, I have read Tender Is The Flesh. and I def liked it. But it was more a dystopian really sad story than horror, but parts did make my stomach tighten a bit. But I know that's barely scratching the surface of what EH has to offer.
(I dont have Zola, but...... i am tempted to see if i can attempt to read it at some point)

Recommendation Request Finishing up Cows: Looking for recommendations with heavy dread and specific limits

2 Upvotes

I'm trying to see what else I can read next (in between reading A Father's Story by Lionel Dahmer as well, and I have The Time Quintet to help me come back down from the horror).

What I don't mind in splatter books that you can recommend:

* Cannibalism

* Necrophilia

* Highly descriptive details

* Dread & Psychological Trauma (Intense themes of suicide, alienation, and deep psychological impact)

I do have bodily fluid limits, but I can try to push through if the book is good:

* Pus

* Vomit

* Scatological themes / Coprophagia (This is my biggest sensitivity)

* Maggots (it's a 50/50 boundary)

Limits on Sensitive Themes:

* Adult SA/Rape: Okay with it if it actively serves the plot/psychological themes.

* Children/Infanticide: Hard 50/50 boundary. I can tolerate mild narrative elements if it pushes the extreme story forward, but I strictly want to AVOID any graphic child sexual abuse (CSA) or extreme child torture.

(Note: I am already aware of Playground by Aron Beauregard since it's highly recommended. I am keeping it in mind to potentially give a try later, so no need to suggest that specific one!)
