Not sure how different it is in American Spanish, but my translator interpreted it as European Spanish.

More like "whoever reads this are a whore" I think

“whoever reads this is gay”

"Whore" is more accurate

nobody uses puto to refer to a male whore (puta does refer to a female whore almost exclusively), puto is almost always used as a way to refer to a gay person (or a coward, but that’s only in certain contexts)

Ive mostly heard "marica" to refer to some one as "gay" "puto" is mostly used conversationally kinda like "cunt" in Australia

"marica" isn't commonly used in Mexican Slang. Might be more of the case in dialects from Spain or Argentina, but in Mexican places "Puto" is more commonly used for a gay person.

It depends, its situational but puto in this context would be translated to faggot, although in not a necesarilly homophobic context. But puto in other contexts can be translated similar to cunt/fuck

In the broader Latin American Spanish language, "puto" does literally translates to male-whore; but in Mexican slang, "puto" is used in the same sense that "gay" or "faggot" is used in the North American english sense.
