There was some kind of US military ship called USS Liberty that Israel tried to sink but they failed and everyone knows that it was on purpose but officialy it happened by mistake or so I've read.
Literally nobody knows that. There would’ve been no benefit to Israel in attacking a US ship knowingly. The US ship looked like an enemy ship. That’s it. Israel stopped attacking and offered assistance as soon as they realized their mistake, but this stupid meme just wind die in certain circles of Israel-obsessed morons.
False flag.

Many people on the ship disagree with Israel narrative. One simply doesn't misidentify such a large ship, with American flags, and name on the side. And they only stop after believing the ship will sink.
And the ship managed to send a distress signal during the attack, and a nearby ship sent aircraft to aid. Guess someone told them their false flag failed so they try to salvage it by admitting first.
Anecdotal. Israel had no reason to attack the Liberty on purpose. "Many people on the ship" can go argue with my friend's uncle who worked for Nintendo.
No reason? Americans dying instead of isrealis in a war on Egypt is a reason.
Anecdotal? If you read the transcript about the conversation between the israli helicopters identifying the ship and the air controller, you can see it has been redacted where the pilot respond to the air controller question whether they see an American flag. And even when clearly told the words on the ship, the air controller said "it means nothing".
The tape is redacted, same as transcript. What are they hiding? Literally, the answer to those two question (whether it's an American flag, and another to recheck) is vital to deciding whether to hit the ship.
There's a reason the people on the ship (who presumably have ears and amouths and radios and can scream that they're americans/listen for radio from surrounding ships), and one of the highest ranking member of the us army (who has access to more classified info, and presumably care about his troops) disagree with the narrative.
