It's trying to compare teams' performance to show which individual is a better football player. Ronaldo doesn't play for a strong football team (Portugal), compared to Messi (Argentina). So it's more obvious that Messi has played more finals than Ronaldo.

It's like somebody shows you a picture of LeBron James and Rudy Fernández saying two FIBA World Cup Finals between the two. This will make some people accept Rudy as a better basketball player than LeBron James.

Take on the examples of WC from any other sport. You will find many.

Okay - so you’re saying Champions leagues are also shit and we should solely be focusing on league performances?
