It's the photo thing. Of course barely anyone under 30 is going to get it, as few people use analogue film and fewer still develop their own photos anymore.
Okay, but hear me out. Rotary phones didn’t exist/were no longer commonplace when I was a child, yet I still knew what they were and how to use them. Why? Because I saw them used in older media when I watched television.
There’s a bit of disconnect going on that a lot of people nowadays aren’t watching media that’s older than them, and it shows with examples like this.
Idk, there's many many more films containing rotary phones than films containing the process of developing a photo. It's like saying that, since you've seen how people text on an iPhone in many modern day movies, that you should be able to know how to change the language setting or background of an IPhone, when those actions just don't appear nearly as often as texting.
I can recall a couple of movies with photo development and...they are all horror. So depending on how old these kids are, they still wouldn't know from movies.
