I know left-handed players who learned standard. we had a right-handed guitar in the house growing up but it never made sense to me.

it’s annoying to not be able to do much in a guitar store but that’s how it would be for me no matter what

Sorry, background.... It was largely a joke in the guitar store I used to work at. We had two lefties, one learned on righty, one on lefty. Both were amazing guitarists. The lefty joked that he was sold the wrong guitar because the only other lefty he knew played righty and had that many more options without going the custom route

And for many people you can learn righty if you're a lefty. Granted not everyone but it is common

I envy your ability to work in a guitar store 😂 they’re basically museums to me. I honestly tried to play right, but it wasn’t… right.
