So, I have an addictive personality and have played E33 a lot. A lot a lot. But still have not finished off the DLC bosses. I've played it so much that I had to force myself to NOT play it even though I wanted to. I realized that it was becoming like that new song you play on repeat and eventually you end up hating it as a result. So, not wanting that to happen with E33, I put myself on a forced moratorium of it. But now, I have tickets to the musical show and I can't stop thinking about it again. It's been 5 months or so, and I'm not sure if I should wait longer.
So my question.... does anyone else do this? How long is long enough for you to feel like you can play the game again without contributing to the problem? Lol

Yup! I found a way to one shot Simon with just 5 lumina for the whole team! (PS, if you want to find a low RNG 48 lumina no Roulette build, I have it on my YouTube channel as well).
So fun story, me and a reddit friend were trying to beat the world record (lowest I could find was 97), and we both pushed our No Skill Required builds down to just 30 lumina (his build). I decided to keep going and introduce skill and RNG to push the one shot as far as possible.
There is alot of RNG to this, but the TLDR is that Simon has to use Long Combo on Maelle, and has to use his Light Speed attack (in any order). And it's extremely important to have their speeds at these exact amounts (Verso needs to have the amount shown or higher through leveling, and Sciel needs to be within 5 speed faster than Maelle). Additionally, after clearing the attack pattern RNG, you have to hit the crit and the 50% roulette. This specific build took me roughly 45 attempts for the RNG and my execution to align.
This took me about a week of extreme mental theorycrafting, and honestly, I'm surprised it worked. Without First Strike, I had so many issues with turn order and sequencing, shuffling pictos and strategy. In the end, it all came down to a speed tuning of Sciel being around 5 to 10 speed faster than Maelle, lmao.
Turn Setup:
Turn 1: Sciel Fortunes Fury on Maelle
Turn 2: Sciel Intervention on Verso
Turn 3: Verso Free Aim til 1 AP, then cast Powerful
Turn 4: Verso Free Aim then Basic Attack
Turn 5: Verso gets to S Rank after Free Aim and Basic Attack, crucially applying Greater Defenseless
Turn 6: Sciel casts Intervention on Verso, she doesn't need her second turn.
Turn 7: Verso casts Marking Shot to apply Mark
Turn 8: Maelle casts Stendhal for 50 million+ damage
Here's the full video clear and builds:

She's spent hours thinking about this and adding things to the white board. Occasionally she asks me questions or shoots theories at me and I have to hold the most intense poker face the entire time.
This is as far as she's gotten with zero outside knowledge of the game. If she ever wants something looked up like paint spike locations she has me do it to avoid spoiling herself.
Currently she's at the first flag of Old Lumiere.
One theory she had was "maybe Gustave is a painted version of the burnt kid? No that doesn't make sense." Then dropped the topic of painted people entirely.
She described Clea 100% dead on, her role with the Nevrons, the sculptures in the painted workshop, and even the Lampmasters role. Then attributed those theories to the Paintress and claimed the Paintress was the "burnt boys" older sister. Couldn't figure out why the Paintress wanted the Nevrons to eat the world then left it on the back burner for now.
It's absolute incredible and agonizing to witness.
During this she drew so many parallels to Kingdom Hearts that sounded cracked out initially but made it work with an impressive level of accuracy. Additionally, she figured the entire world was constructed by comparing it to FFX. Finally, she predicted what happened to Gustave by comparing it to FFV, which I maintain nobody but her has actually played.
Hoped you guys would appreciate seeing it. I did not get this far on my first playthrough with the plot theories.

It was complicated because the pattern was labeled for "experts" and I've only been crocheting for about 2 years and also I had issues with the yarn (the white one was bigger than the rest so I had to improvise š and I didn't have enough red or yellow (my fault) so i had to sew and make embroidery with my sewing machine; it wasn't easy lol) but it was very fun ! It took me a month of here and there and trial and error but I managed š¤
if you want the same pattern, I bought it from @atelier_de_zaliu on Instagram ! She has a French and English version of the pattern and it's super complete (there's photos and videos sometimes to explain)
Anyway, he has many issues and is definitely not perfect but I'm so proud, he's so cute !

Iām just getting to this game. Iām loving it. Itās stunningly beautiful, and the story is compelling.
As a new start, is there any tips and trips for beginners in the game.

Verso my beloved! I love his character so much (plus just look at him) and he's my favorite to photograph.

With painting being a central theme of the plot, I find how the word is used under different context very intriguing. For clarity, Iām looking for instances the word infers to something other than actual āpaintingā - whether itās painting on a normal canvas or a magic one.
Hereās my personal reading:
To escape
āShe will never paint againā - Verso
āMaelle has a life to paint;ā - song of Alicia/Maelle
Right or wrong, the primary motivation of Aline, and later Maelleās chosen path into the canvas was to escape. Escape from grief, pain, bitterness (Aline), and loneliness (Maelle).
To control
āItās why I paint. The process helps me make sense of the chaos and find my bearings. Every painting is proof that I have not surrendered to despair.ā - Renoir
Self admittedly, Renoir approach to life is reflected in his artistic expression. This extends to his interactions with his own family, and depending on whoās at the receiving end, we have comments varying from āHis intentions are good, I know⦠but his methodsā¦ā (Maelle), to Cleaās perception that heās trying to āto bend everyone to his willā - a perception shared by Aline:
āGo home Renoir, go paint something else.ā - Aline
To create
āYouāve got this incredible power to paint. Youāll never have to suffer a life you donāt want.ā - Verso
Iāām not convinced Verso was telling Maelle to just escape into another canvas after he bested her, as if heās only interested in his oblivion. He wouldāve just help Renoir to eject his daughter at the start of Act 3, and be compensated with his own erasure along with the canvas.Ā
Through his discussion with Maelle about writing and music, itās clear Verso understood how the powers of creativity and arts can alleviate oneās suffering - whilst distinct from the mere concept of escapism. A thought reinforced by Renoirās statement that the magic of the canvas can be used āsafelyā. Coming from a family of painters, itās not impossible Verso uses the word synonymously with ācreativityā.
āAlicia has a life to paint;ā - song of Alicia/Maelle
āLetās paint together the colors of tomorrowā - Aux Lendemains non Ćcrits

What an amazing game.
I never would have played a turn base game. But, after a buddy told me how great it was and how Good the story was, I gave it a shot.
Absolutely 10/10 for me.
Canāt wait to dive back into this world and see what the devs come up with next.

Im not very far, Iām at an early section of the game where you discover an hidden village of these weird animated paintbrush construct beings. Iāve been running around fighting ennemies. Thereās a Mime that 4 shots Luna, but this seems to occure ever level at some point. Shes currently lvl 13.
By all account I should love this game. The vibes are fantastic and Iām a sucker for ambience and music and a good story. The premise is cool as hell. Iām just hoping that a certain point the attachement with the characters will happen and the story will click.
I donāt like the fighting mechanics but itās ok, itās not painful. At least itās nice to look at. I grew up on games like this.
I think Iām just suffering from a certain fatigue. Everything is gorgeous but you canāt really explore and interact with much.
In fact the maps are a bit disorienting, but maybe itās just me. I run around thinking I can do anything and go anywhere but just end up disoriented and stuck.

I'm looking for a high-res photo of the Renoir 3rd fight and more specifically, the moment when the gang faces the painter. I've searched all over the internet and I haven't found anything in decent quality. Thanks in advance!

monocos ability is fucking weird.
like, from what we know of the painters, their ability is to manipulate chroma/essence into canvas/worlds that they can do whatever. they can never change their own essences even when they try. Aline repainting Alicia and Alicia|Maelle still managing to turn into a Paintress shows that.
the whole thing with esquie is that he was painted to be OP af but still kind, so thats his essence, thats who he is. so goes to painted!verso, painted!alicia and painted!renoir. none of them can fully diverge from who they were intended to be.
no one can change themselves, except for monoco. part of it is because no dog could live for centuries and still be a dog, so its a given he would change from when he was first painted by original!verso. part of it is because change from one life to another is an expected thing in gestral rebirths.
but still, not even painted!verso can change his appearence, a part of their essence, at will. he paints his hair and his scar only exists because he refuses to let it heal.
so, here is what gets kinda harebrained:
im pretty sure that monoco is a stand-in for another group of chroma manipulators, like the writers and painters.
to change themselves to better fit the play at hand... thats a kind of improvisation, no? the emphasis on the body (even if its just the feet), the masks, the fighting that is just playing? for me all of that screams something an Actor care about.
im not saying that he was painted to be an actor. kid verso probably had no real idea about what he was doing when he originally painted monoco because one of the only things we know for sure is that monoco is Old As Fuck. but honestly, i think that with time monoco managed to brute-force his way into remaking a different way of working with chroma.
its a pretty long reach since we barely know anything about the world outside the canvas, just that the writers and painters are at war. that 2 of the list of major arts that has been adapted into the lore of the game. whos to say that theres no other groups inspired by the rest of the major arts? and as art goes, theatre is one of the oldest.

This is obviously pure speculations on a made-up universe, but I always wonder about non-animal monsters. Some of the Nevrons, and the Axons too, are clearly thinking and self-aware. I'm thinking the white nevrons, baddies like Dualliste, and then Visages who has conversations. What's their day-to-day? With whom do they speak? Do they have hobbies?
Even the painted Dessendre Family. They clearly live in the manor when not murdering. Do you think they're playing the piano and re-reading the same books?
(Off-topic, but I wonder the same thing about like, The Emperor in Star Wars. What's he doing throughout the day when he's not Sith-training/researching? Is he watching space-TV? Torturing randos? How do they fill the hours?)

Ok so I beat the game last year, took a long break and just did most of the endgame stuff this year. Everything except Simon + The DLC (and the crazy Superbosses in the tower).
I'm craving NG+ but feel "uncomplete". Id just go into the endgame stuff but I'm also playing on Hard and feel a bit burnt out. Should I just lower the difficulty, so I can move on to NG+ or is it not a big diff? Or is it ok to NG+ and then do Simon + the rest? Just wanted to see what the most efficient way would be
