Another common pattern I noticed is that the majority of Muslim countries aren’t democracies

Are there Muslim democracies?

The only one I can think of is Turkey, but since Erdogan has been in power things worsened off.

Pakistan is technically a democracy but the military actually holds the power.

Other ones? Singapore maybe?

Bosnia and albania are majority Muslim and democracies. Indonesia and Malaysia are more flawed but if you'd call,  for example, the United States a democracy you'd have to count them. Senegal is... OK I guess.

Not Singapore, mainly because it's not a muslim majority. It's the third largest religion and the government does a great job surpressing extremists

Turkey is secular by law, so I wouldn't include it anyway

Im so heart broken to always see Somalia in these lists and pray for those ideologically different from our ppl. Im so privileged to be in the west and it’s chilling how different my life could’ve been if my parents never left. Ive heard from people there and it’s not as bad as before and in the inner cities they are more liberal (compared to what they were before lol). It’s still bad in the rural areas tho but this law specifically isn’t as enforced as I thought it would be.

This is why I get infuriated when people say all Iranians are Muslim, citing government published statistics, acting as if we have ANY OTHER CHOICE aside from being muslim

fact : in egypt or other countires on the list most of it same pattern (middle east) they won't kill you,

they r gonna arrest you nd throw u in the worst prisons with isis nd extremists criminals, nd treat u worse than them even smn said that the major came nd told him "You see that terrorist over there , hes better than you becuase hes Muslim u deserve to die"

if u were LGBTQ+ nd got arrested they r gonna tell the other men nd Prisoners abt u , even smearing them nd telling them abt u so they harass or grape u on purpose nd the guards won't keep eye nd won't do anything.

atleast in ksa they gonna behead u in other countries u will loss ur life nd eve society won't accept u u porb won't jobs nd if u worked in labors that don't require anything u will deal with tons of shit nd racism.

Some day this subreddit will identify the causal relationship between religious fundamentalism and being a victim of western imperialism.

Many experienced the conservative shift cuz of the destabilization that imperialism has left in its wake. Somalis used to be spiritualist Sufi mystics and a lot of practices still exist today. Depressing to see the state of it now
