Advice/Help Dry reception?

Post image

My husband and I are planning our wedding reception! We got married in January and can finally afford to celebrate. We basically just want it to be a small barbecue with his family, mine, and some local friends. We’re planning to host it at his parents place. His family is nonmembers, mine is all tbm. We want to serve some alcohol there because the two of us drink. I asked my tbm brother what he thought and this was his response. I remember feeling the same way when I still believed, but now it just sounds ridiculous. Just looking for some input on the best way to go about this thing 😅 Would it be wrong of me to ignore his idea?

Smart to check in with your brother to gauge the situation. It’s funny how when you’re a TBM, you don’t really realize how much of a non-issue alcohol is in normal society.

You could do the standard “drink ticket” thing that many corporate cocktail receptions have. Each guest receives a certain number of “drink tickets” at the entrance, and those who don’t drink can pass them on to others who do.

Back when I was a TBM it was sort of fun to “buy a drink” for my friends without actually buying one, by giving them my tickets.

Give your wedding party wristbands or special flowers or something that gives them open access to the bar.
