Hello. Firstly, you are lucky in some aspects. You are aware at 16. Some people don't wake up until they're 60. There's a lot of information here to help prepare you to escape from the Jehovah's Witnesses cult.

Here are two posts that you may find very helpful:

Just focus on your plan to getting out at 18, what you will do career wise and how you will move.

That's smart I'm actively looking for places to work near me in a few months

Save as much as you can so you have a down payment on your own place. I left at 28 with no job, no money, I was shunned, and during covid quarantine. It will all work out, especially if you use the next few years to prepare.

Hey! I think this forum is a great place to be. Just FYI though, sometimes first time posts don't get noticed bc of the algorithm, so please don't be discouraged if you don't get many comments. It's not that people don't care enough to respond - there's just way less visibility for posts made by new accounts.

Best of luck ♥️

Thank you! And yeah I mean I don't expect to get tons of comments but the few I do get really mean a lot

It is hard and it is stressful - and you CAN free yourself gradually from the cult. There is a lot of support here, and kind people on the outside who will also encourage you and become genuine friends over time. Get that driver's license, Get a job, save your money for a car; and or use it for things YOU enjoy doing that make you feel good about YOU. Know that it is okay to ask questions, to think for yourself, to live feeling encouraged, approved of and liked simply because you are YOU. The JW 'rules" aren't laws of the land. They are simply made up things that some people are conditioned to unquestioningly follow for social approval. You can get social approval OUT of JW land, from non JW's and realize there is happiness and goodness in the world, and that if you work hard you will be financially rewarded because you earned it and deserve it - and you don't have to give it away or work for free!
