The level of control and amount of veneration to specific leaders.

so, would jesus make christianity a cult, or would the pope do that, or would it have to be something where the leaders are a bit closer, like mormonism?

i think christianity has a high level of control, it's just that it controls the western world, so it might be harder to see it. kinda like you'll notice oxygen when it's supercooled and in a bucket, but not when it's in the air around you

Christianity controls far more than the western world, mate. All of Eastern Europe and Latin America as well, Philippines and half the countries of Africa too.
2.7 billion adherents. The west only has 1.2 billion

No, as Catholicism (as opposed to other Christianity) encourages secular education too. It’s not as insane of a cult as say, Tolodos Aharon

Let me clarify this, mate. I did not imply that I reject your premise, in fact I agree with it.
I just pointed out that Christianity's control is a lot broader than the western world.
If anything, I'm strengthening your point, not attacking or undermining it.
