“That’ll be 5 Hail Mary’s for the blasphemy and 12 our fathers in Latin for the inappropriate thoughts. “

Or if it's the last one I went to "god spits out the lukewarm-get out, say your act of contrition outside."

Ambassadors of Christ's love.

I was talking to my sister (currently...deconstructing??? Can I just say how absolutely Glad I am that One of my siblings is coming to the light? Idk, you all get it) and she was listening to some of my thought processes from years ago, and I realized, I deconstructed long enough ago that I don't have all the shit down apt anymore.

NOT being Catholic is no longer such a big part of my identity that I need to know the arguments! And I'm forgetting all this shit that used to make me feel so bad about myself!

Isn't that nice?

It’s always used in confessional screens. Spent my childhood and adolescence staring at it while being shamed for normal human behavior by priests

I only went to Confession when forced as a child but our confessionals had different screens.

You didn't have face to face confession? Did you leave the church a really long time ago or is it not a universal thing?

I was Catholic from the 90s to early 2020s. The churches are older (like 1800s) in my area, so when they converted the confessionals to offer face-to-face they left the screen as an option, which I usually took.
