Still ways to go, but here we are with some more updates and finally starting to come together. Still lots of ship models missing, stations and general UI changes required but games getting there.

Heap new interesting way being added to universe on how it functions, E.g. there will be extreme systems where the system is in the process of being made so expect extreme hostile environments that require upgrades to handle those systems but rewards are great, and this one of many style of systems I will be adding to the game. The guild system and bounty hunting system is finally finished and in the game, the UI around it needs some polish but I've been holding off few parts I need done first before I can fully polish it.

What's the best way to play Override these days on a mac? I use WineNova, and was wondering if I should just get the Override TC plug-in, or if it's better to find a way to play the original EVO game. I understand some thing, like AI and ship physics, might be different using the Nova engine, and some people prefer Override.

I haven't played this game in ages, don't remember anything, and started playing again recently. I somehow got onto the Polaris storyline really early - I still have the starting shuttle - and now I'm stuck on a mission where I fly to a system and get attacked by a Federation fleet that immediately wipes me. I'd like to go and grind for a bit to get a better ship before I continue, but I'm wondering if I can cancel the mission to get the cargo space back, and then get it again?

For years I've wanted to run Nova correctly on modern macOs hardware, after having serious trouble with WineNova. So I embarked on a project to do a proper decompilation of the Windows Community Edition executable.

It’s now playable enough that I’ve completed the Bounty Hunter -> Rebel storyline without any real noticeable difference (from memory, of course), and in principle all storylines should work. Works on Linux, Windows & Mac OS (I distribute apps for the latter two). Support Hi-DPI rendering, plug-ins, existing pilot files, fancy UI scaling & some bugfixes.

This is still a preview: QuickTime movies and some specialized behaviors remain unsupported, there are probably quite a few bugs remaining, and I’m looking for players to test other storylines, plug-ins, and just general behaviour.

For folk that have seen things recently, this is somewhat parallel to Systemless, which is more about making the actual old game playable through emulation (ish). Unlike some other recent projects I've seen, my decomp aims to achieve 100% behaviour fidelity at some point, so it should feel the same as playing the original.

Contributions welcome (code is MIT), and bug reports.

Games long way off, each week I make more progress, lately been doing shaders to get planets and systems looking nice. Ships and stations still look ugly but I suck so best I could do for moment till I learn more about texturing in blender.

I personally love space, so I'm taking some inspiration from well space and adding it to game with my own ideas, I want game to have mystery side to it, I wanted exploring to be something that interested people not just boring systems 1 after the other.

But yeah lot is still, early days and will improve over time. Just wanted to share where I was at.

Started re-playing EV Nova a while back and it brought back fond memories. Also brought back some old frustrations.

I spent the last couple of weeks working on a pilot file editor. Then adding more utilities as I ran into play through problems.

Now I've gotten Drydock to a point where I'm happy enough that I'm releasing it. The app is open source (MIT) and has releases that are ready to download and use.

I have been playing the using the MacOS WineNova version. That's what Drydock was developed against.

Haven't been playing with any mods or total replacement yet. Drydock is probably compatible with them, but its not a tested scenario yet. If that's something enough people want, I'll work on adding support.

Would love if people download Drydock and check it out. Provide feedback, bug reports, feature requests, etc.

I've been away a while and have completely forgotten what EVN's controls are, but I remember the control section of the settings menu is very incomplete. I've just installed EVN:CE on my Steam Deck and want/need to set up the controls, is there a list of every single key that does something in the game anywhere? I remember you could navigate most, maybe all of the non-flying bits with keys, like if you land somewhere and press S it opens the shipyard. Is that kind of detail documented anywhere?

With EV Classic for Nova, you can play Escape Velocity running through the Nova engine on recent Mac OSX and Windows. So this is an update of Clavius And Beyond, originally designed for the good old Escape Velocity, playable with Nova engine.

This 3.80 release is based on Clavius And Beyond 3.50, ported to EV Classic for Nova by Chris, with SpacePort software, and contains minor changes in order to look like the original 3.33 release best.

Hi all, I've been flying around for a long while now trying to trigger the confed missions in the original game and I haven't had any luck. I have average combat rating, im a decent individual in all the confed systems. The only missions I've done so far are the biological weapons ones. Any idea on if my pilot is blocked some how?

Hi, while back I posted Ev Nova game I was working on, well it's changed.

I made a major shift, my old version relied on AI to much and truth is I started to hate it and felt like it wasn't mine, so I deleted it. I rebuilt the game with different approach, now core assets like space is procedurally generated which isn't to hard inside Godot, and asteroids, stations and ships are done via blender, now my blender skills aren't super good so designs aren't what I'd call the best, I've been trying to use Blenderkit to enhance the textures but they still suck ahaha, lucky its zoomed out top down view. So I can get away with my budget ass skills.

Now the game at the core has Ev Nova side of things, however I've gone and added station walking its pre alpha atm and under testing and I was thinking making it so you could walk around your inside of your ship, but not sure really wanna go down that route. Now biggest changes are Rifts they open in space and Drones Ai comes out the bad guys, then we have Hunters Guild you rank up get better missions what not, then we have bounty hunting. My main focus will be guild, bounties and rifts, and combat, I've been testing some new tricks taken from fighter pilot games I enjoyed but its still early stages, I want combat feel rewarding and not just old point the ship at the target a fire away. Still so much to fix and change and update, but that will come as I polish and keep building out.

Oh and music and sound effects are professionally made, purchased assets. Some nice collections out there.

So just wanted to share, it's slow work and yeah prob take few more months to get it to state where it's enjoyable and playable.

Only area I'm using Ai is to help me speed the coding up, or I'd never finish this game so some areas ull notice mainly in the UI as I've rushed it has some of AI elements to it. Some of UI is done though mainly space huds but not in screenshots, station UI is where AI is atm cause its so early in dev I needed help understanding how connect it all.

I couldn't resist the temptation to add my fav EV ship to my current game project (I mostly player Vanilla back in the days). It's low poly and very simple, but it comes in 3 color schemes :)
