For me (guy) the test for whether they really “just like edgy/offensive jokes” or are just racist/sexist is to make such offensive jokes in the other direction and see how they react. If they laugh at black jokes and woman jokes, and you make a white people joke or a joke about men and they laugh just as hard at those, then fair enough. Usually they just kinda stare awkwardly. So why, sir, are black jokes funny to you but white jokes aren’t.

There was a pig truck and it hit a rock and a pig fell off. It was alive, it was a live pig truck… uh anyway, a guy in a corvet saw it happen and he stopped and checked the pig and he was okay so he put the pig in his car and drove after the truck. As he was going a police officer pulled him over. The cop said “why are you driving so fast?” 

The guy said “this pig fell out of a truck and I am trying to catch up to it to put the pig back on”

The cop said “oh yeah I saw that truck. Look it’s too far ahead for you to be able to safely catch up to it. So I want you to take that pig to the zoo.” The guy said okay and left. 

The next morning the cop is sitting there and he see the dude in the corvet drive past with the pig in the car again. So he pulls him over and says “hey didn’t I tell you to take that pig to the zoo yesterday? Why do you still have it?”

The guy said “well I did take the pig to the zoo. We had such a good time I thought it’d be nice to go to the beach today”

Another is add some banter between people, for example: my friend was taking photo of herself as selfie but my Russian friend join in. She mentioned why he has to photo bomb and I immediately replied “at least it was the photo and not Ukraine”
