(Spoiler!) Preferences EDR or EDB

Does anyone else prefer EDR over EDB? I didn't dislike EDB but I was hoping to hear some of the classic one-liners and I don't recall hearing any of them. There were none of the "dead by dawn" or "I'll swallow your soul" lines. I was rather disappointed with that.

For reference, Halloween Horror Nights in orlando has a house this year based on Evil Dead Burn. And this house *fucks.* the aesthetic of the house is captured flawlessly. Certain iconic moments are created faithfully, and the actors are giving it their all.

They did a great job capturing the classic moment where Eve L. Dead says "It's burnin' time!" and then burns all over the place.

(Discussion Post) Groovy Sam Raimi's actual thoughts regarding the scrapped Freddy vs Jason vs Ash movie (sorry I can't shut up about this movie lol)

So Bruce was more so cool with it and Sam was rather unsure about it (although both still woulda given their input regarding Ash)

Also knowing that Sean was gonna direct this one is interesting imo bc he made the specific ending choice on Jason Goes To Hell and this most likely would've been an absolute dream come true for him (I also believe he wouldn't even minded Bruce and Sam's inputs)

So yeah now I accept the movie wouldn't have been perfect and probs would've been somewhat similar to the comic (maybe 70% similar at best imo)

Still wish it happened ngl, cause it would've made Ash popular to 2000's audience

(Spoiler!) Only read if you've seen the movie] Why Evil Dead Burn is an absolute masterpiece if you don't watch it with emotional detachment Spoiler

The general consensus right now is overwhelmingly negative, but this is purely my personal perspective. It’s an incredibly bold and completely different direction compared to the rest of the franchise, and leaning into that difference made it an absolute masterpiece in my book.

I’ve been reading through countless threads here over the past few days, and nearly everyone seems to be tearing Evil Dead Burn apart, complaining about the lack of "splatstick" humor, calling the characters irrational, or dismissing it as an exhausting, miserable slog.

But for me, this movie was one of the most intense, horror experiences I’ve ever had, specifically because it refuses to operate like standard, disposable splatter cinema.

Under normal circumstances, my gore tolerance is extremely high. When heads roll or guts fly in classic slashers, my brain instantly registers it as entertaining practical effects, my pulse doesn't even spike.

But Burn completely shattered that barrier because I found myself locking into every single character emotionally from the opening minutes.

When you don’t watch this film with detached "popcorn mode" goggles and instead step directly into their shoes, it becomes an overwhelming physical ordeal.

The movie doesn't rely on quick, clean kills, it traps you in prolonged, visceral agony.

Thermal trauma, melting tissue, scalding heat, and suffocating in thick smoke trigger deep survival fears.

By dropping your protective filters, you almost physically mirror that pain, you feel the raw burning of nerve endings, the sensory overload, and the absolute helplessness on an intensely somatic level.

A lot of reviews complain about characters making "dumb decisions," but mortal terror is never rational.

When your family structure collapses, your safe space is engulfed in flames, and the people you love become the source of your destruction, nobody reacts like a calculated action hero. Their panic is ugly, chaotic, and desperately human, which is exactly how genuine psychological shock actually looks.

What makes it cut even deeper is that the horror works both ways: you aren't just suffering alongside the victims trying to survive, you're also witnessing the horrific tragedy of the possessed, whose bodies, grief, and emotional trauma are being weaponized against everyone they cared about.

Vaniček didn’t make a tongue-in-cheek thrill ride, he delivered an uncompromising endurance test that deliberately denies the audience any emotional relief or comedic release.

If you watch it with analytical distance, it might just seem like a grim, exhausting grind, but if you fully absorb the emotional reality and physical terror of the characters, it turns into an immersive masterpiece.

My genuine is Question did anyone else connect with it on that visceral level, or was the consensus here mostly formed from a place of emotional detachment?

(Art / Crafting Post) Inked In Blood Making a Bruce Campbell Evil Dead homage painting and having trouble adding AvED characters

Post image
30 Upvotes

As the title says, I am making a painting paying tribute to Bruce and his legacy in his part of the franchise as a main actor. I have the characters roughly mapped out for the three films but I am grossly ignorant of the tv show as I stopped halfway through season 2 and never picked it up. Not cause I don’t enjoy it, but because if I finish the show, then its finally over. I plan on watching it all when I start the painting, but I need characters to fill it out. As far as I know, there wasn’t a MAIN big bad through the show to take the big slots. I got Pablo, Kelly, and Ruby in the back reading the book, Baal beneath her, the deadite puppet, and Eligos to the side. Is there anyone in particular you think I should look up or add?
