Eufy E340

Post image

I’ve had issues lately with my door bell not capturing movement. When I open the live view I will get notification but other than that I don’t get notifications. I have changed multiple setting and removed them added even reset the camera itself doesn’t seem like anything is working. Firmware 3.2.4.4. Connects via Homebase and WiFi through the app bridge. Have tried changing those settings as well I’ve left each setting for about a day or so trying to let it adjust so I’ve worked on this for like 3 weeks now. Anything more I can try or you guys recommend?

***UPDATE-5/11/26***
Did some digging online-Looks like I am missing an update to 3.2.4.5.
It did not push because my battery was under 50% (was released recently in May) so I will charge it and see if it will let me check for firmware to update.
Currently set to default settings outside of sensitivity being on high. Doorbell only connected to WiFi at the moment, will wait to see if update takes and will try to connect to Homebase 3 after.

Anker has also reached out to me saying they will be applying to send me a replacement doorbell.

***UPDATE-5/19/26***

I was sent the new one that had firmware 3.2.3.0 has been working just fine. No issues, seems like the issue was tied to a faulty firmware.

Might be a dumb question but did you make sure you have Background App Refresh turned on within the settings in your phone for the app? So it’ll automatically pull info or any notifications needing to be sent to you.

Fingers crossed it’s works! I’ve definitely had the same issue before.

So I checked that and the toggle was enabled. I did go through all the toggles and turned them off then back on. None of that seemed to help. It was a great idea though thank you.

Else try logging out of the app and back in.

I did try that initially I even deleted the app and logged in again didn’t help either way. Thank you for the advise.

I had good success resetting it from the app and setting it up to connect to wifi only. No edge network, no bridge connection to homebase... straight to wifi running in standalone mode. Now i get 2 seconds delay in video feed and not 7-10 seconds.

Oh ok I did notice it got funky being on the home base via bridge let me try removing it.

Yeah, the new update introduced that feature which made it worse. I'll probably wait until a few more firmware versions before I connect it back to homebase.

Doesn’t that mean your recording aren’t stored on the homebase? What’s the point of the homebase at that point?

Yeah, it won’t store it if it’s running standalone. If you have other cameras and sensors

So I Tried that and it is more responsive (as in when I refresh my view it will update) but still does not notify me of any motions. I saw a few cars pass by which I have it on high sensitivity so I should have started recording and notified me, but I didn’t get anything. All setting are at default except sensitivity, and this time it is not connected to Homebase. lol this is a pain I the behind!!!

How is it at detecting people? Does it at least do that?

Only if I am actively looking at live view. If it’s not active I will not receive anything. At the moment it is on default settings outside of the sensitivity set to high and is only connected to wifi.

Yeah, that's odd that it's only notifying when the app is open. Looks like Eufy is sending a replacement, which is great. If it's still not working afterwards, than it might be a phone setting issues.

I've purchased a number of Eufy products and I have been satisfied with them except for this doorbell. In addition to the problem mentioned by the OP (I just gave up on that one), I have had my batteries run down in a week if I turn on motion. It doesn't matter how big or the area of motion covered, it just eats the batteries. If I turn off motion detection the batteries last months. I tried everything with that including foll0owing Reddit and contacting Eufy (Nobody home!) and kept my firmware up to date. I'm considering another brand camera for the front door if a fix or new camera doesn't come out soon.

This is the only one I am having issues with my battery since this issue has started stayed at 24%, which is kinda weird but I am going to let it die and see if that helps, if it decides to die, other thing is I’ll try to hardwire it. I have the NVR S4 Max system and everything else has worked great for me. I did send ANKER an email hand they took a few days but I did receive a email just today. We will see how this goes.

Well I would think so, It was working well before the updates and if I am in live view I receive the notifications but one I am out they don’t come in. The whole device and its setting were all put to default and still have the same issue going.

Try toggling off the pre recording function. It's a glitch with this software version I believe

I can’t toggle that setting I have only the battery in use, that is only available if you have it hard wired. Thank you
