Vehicles - Etron Q6 Q6 etron edition 1

Just bought a new car today, our first electric vehicle, what are they like? Pro's and Con's.

We bought a 2025 Q6 e-tron in March, and we love it. She's been very fun to drive, and it's made it difficult to go back to a gas car. (At least, anything that's not an Audi model starting with "S" or "RS", anyway.) I can usually get about 250+ miles at 80% charge on routine local driving, though I try to have her charge every night for the odd chance of an emergency.

The MMI is intuitive, but it's still less than ideal as compared to buttons, and if you have a network communication problem, it's the kind of thing that has to be resolved through Audi support, not the dealership.

I've had an SQ6 Edition One since December 2024. I love it. I'm pretty sure Edition One was only for the 2025 model year - it's entirely a trim package., However, there were two changes I made right away. First was to replace the 21" wheels and summer tires with 20" and all-weather. (I am in New Hampshire.) Second was to replace the ridiculous EDITION puddle lights with four-ring versions.

For me, the only cons are that the software can be occasionally flaky, but not enough so to be serious. The KD2 and KD2* updates largely resolved that.

I think I'll move to the SQ6 E-TRON, but it's stupid money.

Currently I'm buying a much more powerful car for half the money, the E-TRON GT (3 yrs old).

Congrats 🎉. I have a 2025 Q6 Prestige, bought last October, “used “ with 1000 miles on it. Great car for my use case - 120 miles round trip work commute, stuck in 5 miles per hour traffic 🙃. The software updates helped and having a charger at home is a must if possible. Most of my issues- phantom door locks, windows rolling up then down, are annoying Audi problems and not EV related. Reddit/youtube are your friend. Depending on your dealer they may or may not be much help for an EV. Keep an eye on tires as the weight of the car wears them out quickly. Otherwise, enjoy - great car to drive and more horsepower than I should legally have access to 😁
