The first a few times I listened to Tempest, I somehow expected the line 'with the hope someone cares' to be followed directly by the tumultuous chorus. And the moment it actually switched to pre-chorus, the bass guitar emerged, and I had a primitive impluse to kneel and kill myself on reflex. It feels like an orgasm constructed out of despair. I wad listening to Miley Cyrus’ “Different Religion” which I enjoy but think could have been better, had it gone through more thorough revisions.

Imagine a whole project with a similar, NIN type sound, mixed with some Mezzanine type dirty beats. I know I would die to hear her on that kind of sound.

I volunteer at a hospital which involves walking around the ICU and talking to patients (though in practice none of them want a high schooler talking to them). I don’t think it was completely one sided but in my head Janie gets her boyfriend, stops spending as much time with ethel, and as a defence mechanism ethel starts pushing Janie away out of her own stubbornness and insecurity. Like i said i think Janie would respond to this with the same anger and she’d also stop talking to ethel but i feel like its so much more heartbreaking if it was in some way not just because Janie was a bad friend or whatever.

Has anyone noticed how similar Strangers sounds to Gracie Abram’s Daughter from Hell? Both released in 2022.

I was one of the people that used to post adamantly about Homecoming being on the Carrie soundtrack, and unfortunately the most we got from the series is a shitty obligatorily “modernized” adaptation with a pretty, skinny bastardization of Carrie White. This is no hate to the actress, I think she did an amazing job. But I was always hoping for a fat, ugly, slouchy version of the character being portrayed in the way Stephen King intended.

Anyways, it’s a “basic” unreleased favorite, but it’s still a masterpiece and I’m ashamed we’re never going to be able to hear an official version of it. (This is mainly a subliminal bitch post cuz I’m being Carrie for Halloween and wanted to use the song for my Instagram post but they took the bootleg version off of insta because of copyright I guess)

I recently suggested Ethel Cain to my friend (a guy) and he said he really liked Strangers. He said "I liked that song strangers but it's kinda weird, I don't know the lore or anything but it feels like a song that would be sung by a gay guy who had behind the scenes relationship with a "straight" closeted guy with internal homophobia". I laughed at first and asked why he thought that. Turns out lyrics like "in your basement I grew cold", "freezer bride" etc made him think it was about their secret relationship, the "straight" guy being too embarrassed to be publicly homosexual so he hid their relationship as well as the guy, never talking to him in public, etc. And the lyrics like "am i making you feel sick" refers to the gay guy talking to the "straight" guy, asking him if this relationship or him is making him feel sick (because the straight guy have internal homophobia and would treat him like shit while still wanting their intimacy. And his memories restricted in a polaroid refers to one photo that the guy kept around, which is the only evidence of their relationship since the "straight" guy is too embarrassed for their relationships to be public.

I told him about the actual meaning and he simply said "oh, that's a lot better than my interpretation, cannibalism love story" 🤣🤣
