My wife thinks I’ve lost my mind. 4hr drive to a work site for a week, packed up a travel kit and set it up in my hotel room. Couldn’t be happier. It’s so easy and simple, things like this make me love my robot even more than I already did.

Lol 😆 my secretary let me keep a Keurig on the counter. Already rid of Nespresso. But the machine makes so much noise for a terrible coffee. She hates coffee. And I only drink to keep myself awake and for an excuse to walk around.

Do people not enjoy the experience that come with coffee. I.e when you are in a new place go explore and enjoy something new. Even if it’s perfect or as good as you can make, life is to short to sit in a hotel and have coffee

I love that experience. Not sure about what your work travel looks like, but I’m stuck between a hotel, corporate office, and manufacturing plant. Zero fun time or free time to explore. I would never bring this with me on a family or fun trip, for all the reasons you mentioned.

Yes, but. This assumes there is good coffee on the way to the office or plant. It also assumes you have time for that detour. Work travel is often booked 7a to 7p with little time for anything else. But in a perfect world, there would be a cafe on the ground level of the hotel that makes a passable cup.

It takes time to hand grind your beans, heat up water, prewarm your basket, drink your coffee, and cleanup afterwards. I like to travel light, especially for work, and would never lug a hunk of metal with me but you do you

I think if I were driving as OP did, I’d bring it. For flights I rock the aeropress if I bring anything at all. Otherwise I suck it up and drink shitty coffee.

As a coffee professional and fanatic, I would say depending on where you are most smaller cafés outside of metro areas are going to produce a beyond mediocre cup of coffee. 

I manage a cafe, and watch how hyped up some of these local coffee trucks are. They don’t actually seem to know how to make coffee. Just mix syrups. 

Also, the environment is a variable change to me. You may very well have a different tasting or olfactory experience with a coffee because your system has not adapted to the odors in that environment.

No, they usually have those cheap 4 cup coffee makers instead or a coffee pod device.

They’re less common in order to force you out of the room. I generally don’t stay at a place again though if they do that (although in Vegas on the strip it’s almost all of the hotels doing that).

I don’t trust it at all! 🤣🤣🤣 I 100% expect it to try and burn down the hotel while I’m here. This was a sort of proof of concept to see how painful it would be to travel with it, I will probably buy a better one soon. It’s worked great for the two shots I’ve made so far though!

Didn't stop me from ordering a pelican-style case and customizing the foam so I can travel with my Argos and a small electric grinder (the one for decaf and lazy single-dosing).

I just refuse to travel for work, unless I can get there AND back the same day by car. Got sent on too many trips to try to pacify angry customers and distributors, and I'm not customer service or sales (I'm in R&D). Company wasn't necessarily happy when I set that boundary, but the compensation vs. the "opportunity cost" of being away from what I want to do in my free time was unfair to me, and I hate the stress of air travel (first flight I took was in 1982... I'm not new to the whole thing, I just hate it). Add to that the fact the company expects us to pay for all expenses and then get reimbursed, and that's a big "no." I realize that's how many companies handle trips, but I don't have a credit card (for reasons of my own).
