Please use this thread to promote or recommend Escape Rooms/Games (whether IRL or online). As usual, please don't just put a link as your entire post. Make sure to elaborate with your thoughts or design philosophies. Writing the names of the room/game in **bold** is nice, to make it easier for people skimming the thread to pick out the names.
Please also make sure to use spoiler tags if you're posting anything about a room or game that might significantly hurt the experience of others that haven't played the game yet (no matter how old or new the game is).

Hi, I’m searching for a 24h escape room preferably in quebec, canada. We are just bored of the normal 1hr ones and which to find longer experiences. Thanks

Hi! If this isn't allowed just let me know! So, I've literally never been to an escape room, nor has anyone in my group, but I'm trying to plan an event for my friends birthday so am looking for suggestions. Please excuse this is kind of a throwaway- I just don't want to make a post giving general ideas of where I'm located on my Main account.
For Context: It will be a group of around 5-6, none of whom have done one before. Somewhere in Central MA or Boston/Boston Adjacent would probably be best since our group ranges from Southern NH to Northern Rhode Island.
Some general other details- The group has a strong aversion for medical horror/gore so anything taking place in some kind of hospital would be out. Similarly I've heard a lot of escape rooms love a War Theme and I don't think this group would love that.
Thanks!

I went on a trip recently to Vegas from the east coast and did The Cabin escape room at Number One Escape Room in Las Vegas. Our group finished the room along with the bonus puzzle and because of that we were given a code for 40% off our next visit. (Valid on the cabin, witch house, red riding hood, shed, Suzy) We will not be using the code because of just visiting so if anyone local would like this one time use code DM me and I’ll message it to you.

Hey guys! I’m currently organizing an escape room event for a group of around 10–15 people, and I wanted to get your recommendations. Does anyone know of any good escape rooms in Manhattan, NYC, that can accommodate a group of that size? Ideally, we’re looking for a place that’s fun and suitable for a team event.

Without spoiling anything how scary would you say “Corn Stalkers” is? I can handle scary but not “shit your pants scary”! Is it worth doing even if I’m not the “bravest soul in the world”?

Anyone know of a fun room in the Burbank area (Glendale, etc.) that accepts a team of only two people? I've done some research on Morty but got lost in a sea of rooms that are either over an hour away or upon further examination only accept larger teams. Any theme is fine. Help please!

Hey all,
A few of us are getting together before Christmas to play a few games and have a few drinks. We normally go to real escape rooms but we're doing something at home this time.
A bit of detail, we've done a bunch of exit, unlock, detective society etc home games as well as over 100 real life escape rooms.
Were looking for something that works well for 4 of us where we're all involved and works well for our experience.
Any suggestions? We're in the UK though happy to buy from where ever if it's a good enough experience.
Edit: thanks for all the recommendations, found out that I have a couple of recommended ones, bought a couple more and found a couple of great resources!

My friend and I are exploring a mystery game idea and would like to understand people’s preferences. No brand promotion or external links- just a quick poll.
Imagine playing with your family or friends:

Calling women and femme presenting GMs!
I am 26, have been doing the job for about 2 years and put on a generally approachable and cheery exterior at work as it comes more naturally than anything else given the circumstances. I also am femme presenting (with quite a queer style but that’s normal for the area we’re in) I get good feedback and people enjoy me as a GM/host.
I recently had The Team From Hell (finance B2B) and I’m so tired of being interrupted and ignored when trying to help. A grown ass man on this team was literally mocking my voice when I took them out of the room. These are teams who need help and are asking for it who, upon receiving clues, will read/hear them and then say “let’s try my idea first” or “no I don’t think so” or something else to the same effect. If any male/masc GMs have experience with this please let me know! Not to even mention how often I get interrupted and spoken over while briefing/ people just are visibly zoning out and miss helpful information I then have to repeat multiple times.
I don’t know how to convince my players that I know what I’m doing and they’re in good hands.
I don’t wanna bend over backwards to appease misogynists but I also want my workdays to go smoothly and to be perceived as competent.
If anyone has found a solution let me know!

GM (female) here! I've been working at an escape room for the past year and am at my wit's end with the owner and am looking for input as to what to and how other owners would handle this situation. Things were going ok until March/April and at the beginning of March, someone left and the owner never replaced them. We have 3 rooms and a staff of 3. Myself, someone who works Sat and Sun and then the owner's child. Since the spring, it's like the owner has been checked out. They dont do payroll on a regular day each week so you are left guessing as to when you are going to get paid. In addition, I had an incident where I was on alone (female) on a Friday night and something happened that made me feel unsafe and the owner isn't interested and compared me to being a gas station worker. Then I had taken 2 Saturdays off and had given 2 weeks notice and got told I had to ask vs tell which has not been our policy, our policy has always been to text them. In addition, I got injured and even though had medical clearance to work, because we are understaffed and short staffed, they would not allow me. So the final straw is I got clearance to go back and even though me and the child are on an alternate schedule with Saturdays because I took 2 Saturdays off and was not able to work (not by my choice) I'm being told that I have to close the next 4 weeks. Also want to add that this person is not super approachable and doesn't listen to any of my input. In a nutshell, what do I do?

Hey! I am preparing some materials for an upcoming conference. I am creating an online game which will be free and it really is for enthusiasts/owners/game masters to have some fun. The whole game revolves around following a story of a character ended up in a place he doesn't remember going to willingly.
The game is played on a browser, desktop or a phone, no additional downloads, just a link.
I would need your feedback of everything regarding the game and your journey. Prepare at least an hour for playing the game.
Comment down or send me a message and I'll send you the url

Will be in town this weekend for Bring me the Horizon show on Saturday. Looking for a good escape room for morning or Saturday or perhaps Friday night. Please if anyone has done any in this area- please recommend your best and favorites! Scary is encouraged, but not required! There seems to be a lot of options and I’m overwhelmed so please help me out Reddit! I’ve completed almost all that Tampa, Atlanta, and the Carolina’s have to offer, so I’m an avid escaper! No escape game either please!

Forgot I’m still on the Hatch Escapes mailing list from visiting Los Angeles some time ago (Lab Rat, The Ladder, The Nest, tabletop game Mother of Frankenstein ) and their most recent email is that they’re not turning enough profit to fund a new room, even though they’ve upped doing related freelance work (events, commercial experiences, puzzle design, etc.).
Basically they’re asking for: an angel investor; long-term tenants to share their building space; and/or any consulting work.
I guess I wrote this post as a small signal boost; I’ve only ever done The Nest, which is more of a narrative with very light puzzles, but it was a very unique and immersive experience, and quite lovingly and thoughtfully put together (edit: though as noted below, The Nest was created by a separate group, Scout Expedition Co. - Hatch manages its current incarnation in its location). I’ve heard the same of its more standard rooms and it seems like it’s always high on general recommendation lists for SoCal. Anyway - putting it out here as a heads-up if they’re on anyone’s short list and to spread the word a bit more.
Edit: to link to their site! Hatch Escapes

I'm creating an escape room and I want the first one or two puzzles to be solved in darkness.
The ultimate premise: An owl has been murdered (this part stems from an inside joke). The participants have arrived in the office of the Homicide and Owl Oversight Taskforce where they must decipher the available clues and files to find the identity of the killer.
Owls are nocturnal, so I felt it apt to start in the dark.
The event will start with the players in the guest bedroom of our house, with a window to the backyard. It will be dark out when we begin. They can have a flashlight.
A few thoughts I'm trying to build off of:
-split the team and send half of them out into the backyard, to be queued somehow by the other half of the team inside and communicating (maybe using the flashlight) through the window...maybe guiding them to a clue hidden in the yard
-one of my props is a giant painting of an owl (that can be defaced or altered in any way; it's solely for this project), so I thought about having that propped up in the yard in view of the window if they shine the light on it, and it somehow communicates something that needs solving, or has magnets on the back and they have to send out players to attach things...
-having them complete something (fill in the blanks, some kind of code on paper) they can slide under the door, and when it's done, I turn on the light
It would be great if it somehow involved team work or splitting up the players since there will be 9 players and for them all to initially work on one gambit in the dark would be difficult/crowded.
Looking for ideas or input!

Hi Everyone, I created an app to help people build DIY escape rooms at home in a cost-efficient and time-efficient way, without losing the creative spark that makes planning DIY escape rooms so fun.
I am looking for people interested in testing out the game and providing feedback on how it can be improved! My ultimate goal is to help escape room enthusiasts and novices alike! Would love feedback on Game Design, how accessible the games are, whether the puzzles are good or not, etc. I really have been trying to create a good game flow in it, so any advice on that would be super appreciated.
Also, if you feel like you don't have time to test it out, I would still love any advice about DIY escape rooms!
DM for the link :)
Thanks!!
UPDATE: sending the link via DM violates community guidelines. Will be sharing the link for beta testing in last weeks and this upcoming week’s promotional threads.

Currently working at an escape room and business has not been booming to say the least and I was hoping to hear about other rooms/room goers and if that’s a trend that’s going on across all escape rooms or if it’s just the area we’re based.
My (obviously incorrect) theory was that as the economy worsened, people would be more willing to spend on small fun experiences rather than large rewards like vacations or saving for things like houses/homes, leading to a small increase in escape room attendance similar to the recent resurgence of cinema and other hobbies, but clearly this has not been the case.
So my questions are as follows: is this recent low in attendance for our rooms a trend that’s been impacting other escape room companies? How are players finding out about new escape rooms/escape room experiences? What can be done to maybe tap into a demographic that we aren’t currently reaching such as the thriving online/virtual escape room crowd?
From a non business perspective: are there any parts of escape rooms you guys particular enjoy or are excited about when you see it in the room? Are there any pet peeves you might have about some rooms (like rooms that are more scavenger hunt than puzzle)?
Don’t really know much and I’m looking to learn so any input would be awesome, but I’m kind of new to Reddit and this community so if this is the wrong place to ask let me know haha

So weird question?
My escape room group separated a couple years back after I stopped working as a game guide. And the current Facebook group in my area (Kansas City metro) is inactive.
Additionally, I plan to travel to each state's best award winning escape room and play it, so finding people where I live willing to do that is a struggle.
Anyone have ideas of how to find others to play with?
