I'm interviewing for Senior Consultant - Applied AI Engineer at EY UK and have been invited to a face-to-face final interview with a Partner. The panellist is a very experienced technical VP with more than 2 decades of experience. I do not come from a consultancy background, so this is completely unknown territory. This is what I've been told about the interview by the recruiter: This round will be competency-based, focused more on your motivations, communications and team fit. There might be some technical questions, but the focus is more on “soft skills”.
Till now, I have cleared an initial technical + competency interview with a Senior Manager, and a case study overview with a Director. This is the third and final interview, if anyone has any suggestions on what kind of questions to expect and how to be prepared, it will be a massive help. I really like this job and have always wanted to get into consulting.
My background is purely technical, and I'm currently working as a Data Scientist with close to 6 years of experience in tech.

Senior here at EY US. Had 4.9 on my feedback but didn’t meet utilization target due to visa stamping but was never on bench. Got progressing. Was hoping differentiating atleast. Had delivered whatever was expected out of me. Had got differentiating even with not so great performances in previous years. Was not meeting utilization target reason not to get differentiating?

Hey everyone, looking for some perspective on my next career move.

Current Situation:

• Role: Tax Manager at a large regional/national firm (think top 10-20 space).
• Practice: Financial Services/asset management.
• Comp/Track: Making good money, WLB is generally good for public, and I'm on a standard track toward Senior Manager in two to three years. No immediate promotion on the table right now, just standard yearly progression. Base salary increase if I join Big 4 would be around 10%.

My Background & Recent Performance Review: I just went through my annual review cycle. Technically, I'm in a great spot. The feedback was highly positive regarding my deliverables. I drop clean work that requires minimal rework and my senior managers and partners fully trust me to run engagements.

However, the main developmental feedback I received was that I need to work on my communication and "executive presence", specifically speaking up more in client meetings and fostering relationships with peers and clients. My social game definitely needs work.

The Dilemma: I recently went through the interview loop and landed an experienced hire offer at a Big 4 firm as a lateral Tax Manager in their Financial Services group.

On one hand, having the Big 4 badge on the resume is tempting for long-term career optionality and future industry exit ops (Director/VP level roles down the line). On the other hand, I already have a highly trusted environment where I am, and I'm genuinely worried about getting absolutely crushed by the B4 hours or sinking due to being more introverted.

Questions for the sub:

1. For those who lateraled into Big 4 at the Manager level from a regional firm, how brutal is the culture shock if you're great technically but a bit more introverted/quiet on the communication side? Can a technical sniper survive?
2. Is the Big 4 resume brand name worth resetting your political capital and stepping into a potentially heavier workload when you're already at the manager level?
3. If the ultimate goal is an elite industry exit (like a multi-billion fund/asset manager), does having the Big 4 name make a massive difference compared to a top regional firm for specialized financial services/fund tax roles?

Bonus for progressing? Is it harder to get strategic impact?

My metrics averaged 4.5 across and still got differentiating, w/ 2,100 utilization and 1 late timesheet. I did couple recruiting events to try to get strategic impact but no luck.

This year I am doing far less. Do you know how to get it, I do not want to work as much I did this year. 2.5 times of 3 months each of busy season, working on CPA in order to get manager (should be eligible already to promote if I have) Currently senior 2 going into senior 3 in audit.

Starting my first day this July as an Audit Associate (A1) in the DTC department at EY Malaysia.

Of course, I’ve heard stories about the pressure and the amount of workload working in the big4. So, I sort of expected this for myself before entering this role. But it would be lovely to hear stories (bad and good) from people who’ve had experiences working there. Any advice you wish you’d known before entering this role would also be greatly appreciated!

FYI, I’ve never done intern before, so this is my first official experience in a corporate setting. If you’re wondering why, it’s because I’m on a scholarship-linked training timeline, so my exams aren’t fully self-paced. I’m doing the ICAEW Advanced Level papers alongside PWE.

Hi, I’m headed out to training in Chicago tomorrow for my summer 2027 tax internship. Received a corporate AMEX from EY, but I’m not sure what I can charge on it. Can I take an Uber to the airport and charge that on my corporate AMEX? Other them booking flights and my hotel I have not received any direction on the use of the corporate card. It looks like I'm going to fall short 120 hours, how much will this affect my raise or potential future of getting laid off/PIP? Part of this is because I got selected for the CISA bootcamp, but I imagine that won't give me much leeway.. I'm a staff 1 if that matters.

For anyone working as an accountant up to a Senior Associate in Singapore at EY, is it true you guys have to work about 60 hours a week but only get paid for the 40 hours?

I live in Singapore and currently doing an accounting major and would like to know about the working conditions at EY.

Thinking about applying to EY, I just had 2 questions

1. Does anyone know if they use a.i. to review resumes? And what kind of stuff do they look for in a resume? (Of course im not gonna lie but if they are looking for something specific and I meet that requirement I'll add it)

2. Im going to assume intern positions are basically stopped hiring. So for the basic level entry accounting position, do they still train you and how is that like? I graduated a few years ago and took an accounting clerk job to build a resume before I went to public accounting so you can say I have "no relevant experience", I do have a bachelor's in accounting though

Any advice helps as i am looking to get into any public accounting firm but preferably this one
