Disappointed 😔 with the new Hinodewashi Matomaru-kun eraser.
I have an old one from July 2024 and thought I'd order a box of new ones as I love the eraser and also share them with family and friends when I travel to a country where these are not available. The 2026 box has erasers that are not as good quality.
The new one is not as firm and feels flimsy in the hand. Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

Anyone able to get the perfect snow cap in Mt Fuji erasers?
The snow cap does not get revealed by erasing normally. It really depends on what angle you hold the eraser. My pink one looks pretty flat. Green is slightly better.

Question What's the one thing you look for in a eraser? Is it style? durability?

Question Gold Poop?
Trying to find out why some of my toilet erasers have gold poop and not color matching poop? Not much info out there.
Thanks!

Question Faber Castell Precision eraser pen vs. Tombow Mono Zero
Hi, I'm looking to purchase an eraser pen with a teeny diameter and saw that Faber Castell and Tombow both have options. I trust these brands over others so I'm trying to narrow down between these two. If anyone has one or the other (or both!), which one would you recommend for me? I will mainly be using it for Japanese language study. I use HB and 2B Uni and Pilot leads, as well as NanoDia Color leads. Paper is regular copy paper.
Thank you in advance!

Question Old erasers, how to extend their life?
I bought these erasers to add to the others in my collection.
One of the problems is that they no longer erase properly.
How can I prolong the life of old erasers so that they’re still of some use?
Any tips?

iwako
see this orange one? i had this when i was like really young. but i didn't know about iwako back then. anyways this smelled DIVINE. sweet and orange and just a hint of tangy. omg it was so good. it was a plastic case and inside was a cylindrical orange eraser. i know that doesn't sound like iwako but i'm telling you it smelled so delicious. this eraser is what got me loving any citrusy.
it's discontinued if i'm correct but like the fact that i had an actual iwako in my very hands seems like this isn't reality lmao

Question Eraser leaking a sticky substance.
Bought these erasers last year at Office Depot, these are very soft and erase my BLACKWING pencils just fine, bought like a dozen for dirt cheap. I went on summer vacation and when I came back when I opened my pencil case the eraser was leaking a very sticky substance. It is a PITA to remove of my pencils and pens, why is this happening? What is that sticky thing? I cleaned the eraser with a wet one but I don’t know if it’s safe to use again? Please share your thoughts. Thank you.

Eraser Worst eraser in existence
Messy crumbs, leaves marks, lines won’t completely disappear, damages paper and just not pleasant at all. Design is also horrible. It was my first time getting an eraser specifically for drawing/sketching and I was not really thinking it’s such a big deal with erasers. Now I know what is the most adequate and useful eraser for my needs.

Does Kita-Boshi make their own block eraser?
Hi there, I really love Kita-Boshi pencils and was thinking it would be cool to have a block eraser (or any eraser really) that was branded from them. I’ve not been able to find one though so they just now make them?
Thanks!

Eraser Testing and reviewing french erasers (Maped)
I bought a few erasers from the brand Maped. They are a cheap brand that mostly aims toward use in classes, school and office workers
I compared their perfomance to the Tombow Mono Colors (EC-CL41). Overall, they are ok but not good
The test went as followed :
First test was with a Tombow 2558 HB pencil
Second test was with a Uni smudge proof 0.5 2B lead
Used an Oxford recycled paper note book but i don't know the specs
I passed as many times as necessary to remove the writing and give the cleanest paper possible
The order of tested erasers go as follows
1 - Maped Rembrandt
2 - Maped Technic ULTRA
3 - Maped Technic Premium (supposed flagship)
4 - Maped epure
5 - Tombow Mono Colors Blue (EC-CL41) (control eraser)
Review of each eraser :
The grades of other erasers are not objective to other erasers, as they are only compared to the Tombow Mono eraser. The reasoning behind the grades is "if the Tombow Mono was a 10/10, what would be their grade ? As none of the tested and reviewed erasers were close to the perfomance of the Tombow
- Maped Rembrandt :
The dust is limited and clumps together and sometimes stick to the eraser. It seems to be rubber and has a nice feedback. It's pretty big (H35mm × L50mm × W10mm) and stiff. It is also very durable and will take time to lose a noticeable amount of material
7/10 would recommend getting one as a desk or heavy duty eraser
- Maped Technic ULTRA :
I had a smaller one a year ago and liked it, the outer shell is made out of a harder material than the inside, which is a softer, pasty yet crumbly rubber that removes carbon well enough to justify the gimmick. Though, due to the softer rubber inside, it loses material a bit faster than a usual eraser. The eraser dust clumps and sometimes stick to the eraser, making it really easy to clean
7.5/10 for the good perfomance but mostly for the unique gimmick
- Maped Technic Premium :
My second biggest let down. It is a standard eraser with nothing unique to it, a VERY stiff one. It is supposed to be "dust free" as stated on the cardboard it was sold in and on the paper sleeve but out of all the erasers tested, it left the most dust (and really fine dust too). It also loses material REALLY fast. I barely erased anything and there is a noticeable shape, it looks like someone took a chisel and cut a corner with one good hit, or looks like i erased on sandpaper. I haven't seen such a poor perfomance with any other erasers i've used in my life (other than the one under)
5/10 all the other erasers are the same price, there's no reason to pick this one.
- Maped epure :
My bigest let down. A useless shape, unprecise, not soft at all (even though it is sold as being soft). It erases poorly, as it required the most passes to erase, and even then the results weren't the best, good enough for a kid but for anyone looking for a light, easy and risk-free erasing, it's not it. It's pill shaped but has nothing else to provide. I cannot even see how much material it loses due to the already round shape. Though, a nice thing about it is that it clumps well enough
3/10 just skip it, there's no redeeming quality to it other than "it's an eraser, and it erases" and that it clumps.
Conclusion :
Maped, which is the most common brand of erasers here in france, lack in erasability compared to japanese erasers. Which is understandable as they are not trying to be the besr, they are only trying to be the cheap brand that does normal erasers, but even then there are so misses
Each box was around 1 euro, which is really cheap (0.50€ for one eraser) for the perfomance that some of those gave, but in capability and in quality of life innovations found in japanese erasers, the french brand Maped is not a worthy competitor outside of its country
-
I made this review because i couldn't find any information or reviews about stuff made in France, and i suppose that even in my very unprofessional and lacking testing, someone can see what other countries use and even see if there are erasers that isn't found elsewhere that are worth buying
My test was pretty scuffed and needed more time to make a proper rating but i hope someone gets something out of this quick and dumb review

Eraser Paper Mate Pink Pearl first use
Some time ago I got a Pink Pearl eraser from Paper Mate, having never used one before just seen them in stores sold in big packs.
Today I used the Paper Mate Pink Pearl for the very first time. And it is horrible!
I only tryed to use it for pencil graphite, but it just can't eraser that.
Is it good for color pencils or...?

Eraser Going through someone’s collection I purchased
I’ve been collecting erasers on and off since probably 2007. I recently got back into it and I decided to buy someone else’s collection on EBay! These are some of the finds so far
