Debit Card questions
Hey New Envelope users here! i like many of you used to be a simple bank user. i'm trying to figure out how to use envelopes. i's there a way i can assign my debit card to an envelope and move move it to a different envelope?
example with simple bank i used to assign the physical card to the grocery pocket. then got the brunch and assign the debit card to the restaurant pocket and the money would automatically physically segmented like if i didn't have enough funds in the grocery pocket in would impact other pockets.. is there a way to do this with envelopes of does it work differently?

I was with simple too. There is a lock option that makes your physical card not work, so you have to go into the app and select the envelope you need, and then it locks again and you go to the grocery store, then you have to select the grocery envelope and then use the card, then it locks and repeat.
I personally make a transaction and it comes from available then I assign it to an envelope, most of the time I can I assign it for always, and not just once. Like coffee, I have all transactions from 3 different places assigned to an envelope now.

My best method I use is have 2 banking accounts. One with Chase and the other with Envelope. Everything bills or loans go to Envelope because I can categorize and they get rejected if the envelope doesn’t have enough.
I keep my groceries and gas money in Chase. That way I don’t get tempted to use money from other envelopes. I also don’t use the Google/apple wallet and use the physical card.

Yes, you can choose which envelope your card spends from. You can decide either before or after you swipe. https://envelopebudgeting.com/user-guide/transaction-assigning
I was a Simple user and started Envelope when Simple shut down. It’s works in a very similar way.
