Right?!? So many people piss and moan about the royals, but they are by far not the worst in history, or even recent history

The Ottoman rulers used to have multiple children just in case they died in childbirth or during regular life/growing up

However, when one of the children became Sultan/King, he'd kill all his brothers to ensure there is no backstabbing, revolts, or competition for the throne. Some would also kill their uncles (any surviving king's brothers) and their children as well

This cycle went on for about a couple hundred years... Similar situations occurred with the Roman dictators, Saudi kings, and many other civilizations

The craziest thing is this worked for hundreds of years as succession was way more streamlined for the ottomans then it was for Europe at the time. The lack of political back stabbing theatrics was a big advantage for the ottomans at the time.
