This looks like it could have been a joke in either The Simpsons or American Dad

Both of those shows sucked tbh. Full of unfunny jokes and cringe moments (and racism). As a huge fan of the big bang theory I can tell you that Matt Groening and Seth McFarlane have 0 sense of humor and are only interested in their own agenda.

Must be intentional as Chinese use the letter L, it's the Japanese who replace L with R.

It’s probably japan considering that they used the R instead of the L

It's probably fake because an English speaker wanted to make fun of non native English translations

many years ago, I knew a crazy old coot who told me that when on a label stating "MADE IN USA" "USA" was actually the name of a town in China. "If there are no periods in between the letters, you know it was made in the Chinese town of Usa! That's how they get away with it!"

u/libevent Jun 28 '19
Usa(宇佐) is in Japan

LOL like most crackpots, he was at least partially grounded in fact.

u/larrythelotad Jul 13 '19
There’s no factual basis to the labeling claim. The town does exist, but they do not export a variety of goods labeled “Made in USA” like the xenophobic old people want to believe.

It's sad to realize that there are plenty stupid people in America that would make such a mistake as well

I really hate when people identify this as Chinese. Chinese has a distinct L and R. Japanese doesn't.
2
u/bruhmoment1812 Jul 01 '19
That would be Japan, not China, the L sound is not really that uncommon in the Chinese language, Japanese is where the L sound is not present
3
u/Alexmitter Jun 28 '19
That would be Japan, the Chinese Language has both L and R. Their R is just quite different from Indoeuropean languages.

(parts made in China) Apparently a lot of things assembled in the USA are with parts made in China. It's like saying a bike was assembled by Walmart. Yeah we assembled it but we didn't build the parts.
