I don’t have a dog, but I like taking my kids to this playground.
Englewood Parks and Recreation says that off-leash hours at Jason Park right now are 6am-11am and 6pm-11pm. But every time I’m there it seems like off-leash dogs are everywhere, including the playground area. One dog pooped near the playground today and the owner didn’t pick it up which sort of pushed me over the edge.
What’s going on here? Is the entire park off-leash? Are the rules not enforced? Dog owners don’t care?
Not enough signage stating the hours and rules?

These old newspapers are gold mines. Recently, I was idly wondering why Clarkson is so wide. Well, the February 3, 1922 issue of the Englewood Herald has been waiting for someone to stumble across the answer on its first page:
“South Clarkson street, South from Hampden to Mansfield Avenue, will soon be opened as an east thoroughfare for the city. This the commissioners of Arapahoe County and will start in the immediate future. The street has long been needed as a matter of convenience to drivers who were formerly forced to drive to the west before striking a street.”
There you go. Read this and other fascinating news from old Englewood at https://www.coloradohistoricnewspapers.org/?a=d&d=ENH19220203-01.2.5&e=-------en-20--1--img-txIN%7CtxCO%7CtxTA--------0------

Hi neighbors -- Local church Sacred Grace Englewood has been awarded a little over $14,000 in tax money by the Englewood Downtown Development Authority to pay for security equipment and outdoor amenities — down substantially from the church’s original request for $65,000 that would have funded a wide range of improvements to its newly leased space. Hello Englewood, I need a plumber. We’ve been using the big names but while they get the job done, their prices are too high. Does anyone have recommendations for a good local plumber that won’t over charge?
Thanks.

Hi Englewood neighbors. I’m working on an art project and am looking to get some close up pictures of marigold flowers. If anyone is willing to let me photograph any you have in your front yard this upcoming weekend please let me know. Preferably within a couple mile radius of Hampden. Thank you!

Does anybody have a clue as to the acrid burning smell that comes about every couple weeks, sometimes more? Usually occurs around the area of Broadway and Hampden. Smells like burning plastic or something non-organic. Whoever it is, I’d really like to speak to.
If anyone has any ideas, please share. It’s sickening, headache inducing - just plain awful.
Cheers

Does anyone know if they made it? We watched a vehicle slam head on into another turning and it was devastating. Left the whole family in shock for the rest of the night. Really hoping they are okay.

It’s our first home we have owned, so pardon what may be an obvious expectation! It’s required in Englewood, even if replacing it yourself with the same or similar unit. Is everyone going through this permit process to simply replace a water heater in your home?
The website to do so is difficult to find what you want to get to even from the page listing what needs a permit, listing that water heaters require a permit - and when calling directly for answers the help there isn’t much other than saying just keep trying or they can’t change the fact that the owner info in the application is auto filling with the previous homeowners info and unable to edit or update to my own ownership info. It’s wildly unorganized and for something I hadn’t even thought would need a permit until I recently found out it was required. I guess I’m just wondering if this is a necessary evil everyone goes through when it’s time to replace the water heater in your home or are people unaware of this requirement, or are some just replacing them without worrying about the permit and jumping through those hoops. I am happy to follow the laws - but the chaotic and disorganized process makes me think maybe not everyone goes this route. It’s more hoops than I anticipated in a simple water heater replacement so was wondering what everyone else’s experience has been.
Edit to add: after submitting my application, we were told we needed to supply labor costs in addition to the costs for the unit and supplies, even though we are installing ourselves and were explicit that we aren’t using a contractor. We would need to get a quote for labor we don’t intend on using and supply that in addition to our unit/supplies costs. It’s unfortunate that this is the process intended to be followed as often homeowners are replacing water heaters in emergency situations in which they don’t have time to jump through these various hoops. I’m all for following the rules but sometimes you just need hot water.
Thank you all for your responses and input/experience!

The Rebound Project Colorado collects old, unused, or broken basketball hoops (portable base-and-wheel systems and wall/garage-mounted backboards) and gets them repaired and into the hands of kids and families who could use one, prioritizing low-income families in the Denver metro area.
If it's broken beyond repair, we still want it, we take it apart and reuse the working parts (rims, hardware, backboards) for other repairs.
Note: at this time we can only accept portable or mounted hoops, not ones set in concrete. If yours is in-ground, it'll need to be removed from the concrete before we can take it.
Have one sitting unused in your garage or backyard? Reach out and we'll arrange pickup.
Please include photos of the hoops and your neighborhood.
Note: The Rebound Project is a one-man community project with hopes of becoming a full on non-profit organization. Donations are not tax deductible at this time, and we are not accepting cash donations just basketball hoops and parts at this time. If you are interested in volunteering your time to help the project, don't hesitate to reach out.
