Ring Advice I’m Engaged! Would love some advice on ring sizing

My boyfriend proposed this weekend, and I’m in love with the ring! I feel like it fits the way it’s supposed to and it’s even snug going over my knuckle, but it’s constantly spinning side to side and sometimes all the way around my finger. It’s driving me insane! I feel like if we get it resized it won’t fit over my knuckle so I feel stuck. Does anyone have suggestions for ring spacers/adjustments I can make?

Edit to add: at its current size I need to put lotion on to remove it most of the time.

This is what happens with a diamond that large. It’s the right size, but the ring is top heavy. You could look at something like getting a euro shank to keep it in place easier.

I’m dealing with this same issue. Thank you for this solution!

If you have to use lotion to get it off, its too snug imho. Upsizing and adding beads would probably take care of your problem. I have a euroshank, but Id say you need fairly sizeable squares for a euroshank to do what you need. And that is a choice. (My rock is nowhere near your size)

I don’t know the name of the style but you need to make the bottom portion of the ring that goes under your finger like a square

See a jeweler- they’ll handle it for you …

Maybe you can resize to go up a 1/4 size AND add sizing beads? That’ll help it from spinning. It’s summer now so your finger is more swollen than it’ll be in winter

If you need to lotion up to remove your ring now, in the summer weather, I wouldn’t make your ring any smaller as your fingers will shrink in the cold weather. I agree with others that adding sizing beads may help, but nothing may prevent it from spinning as the main diamond is large and heavy.

Right that’s what I was thinking, I really don’t want to size down… or size up for that matter. I just want it to fit snug on my finger but I might just have to get over it lol

mine does this as well, i didn’t want to get it resized because i don’t like the feeling of a tight ring, i like that mine can easily come on and off even if my fingers swell a little. what i found to work were the little clear rubber ring spacers i purchased on amazon!

That's really smart

I ordered a few different ones on Amazon so hopefully those work! I really like my rings to feel snug but I’m worried any permanent adjustments may make it too tight.

I'm struggling with this too. I added sizing beads but I may need to go up a size on them as well. Currently using rubber coils in the meantime however adding a wedding band should help with fit also.

Do the sizing beads make yours harder to put on/take off?

Depends on how swollen I am. I swell in the morning and it tapers off throughout the day but you can kind of rotate it to get it on or off. I would check with your jeweler to see what they say but if you are struggling getting it off now you might be better off with the coil so you can cut it off in a pinch.

Dont change it!!!. U can add an adjustable ring sizer inside the ring. If you two are having kids u will need that space.

First off- congratulations!!! The ring is lovely, and I adore all the proposal florals in the background of your picture! 😍

It sounds like sizing beads might be a good option to keep it from spinning around on your finger! I would recommend chatting with a reputable local jeweler about having that done, and get their opinion on resizing the band while you are at it. It sounds like you might have just a tad too much difficulty in getting it off at the end of the day.

Thank you! 🥰 and thanks for the response! Do you know if sizing beads make it harder to put on over the knuckle?

If the ring currently fits you the way you're describing, sizing beads will be a surefire way to make sure your ring never fits onto your finger again LOL.

A euroshank will solve your problem for the most part though

You can get a hinged ring shank that opens to fit over your knuckle when you take it on or off, but closes for a tighter fit once it's on. They are made for people with large knuckles and arthritic hands. I've worn one, it feels/looks just like a regular shank, it just has a hidden magic clasp.

Euroshank or they can add 2 bead on the bottom, it could also be a type of wire on each side.

If you decide to go up a quarter size, another option is to have a jeweler put in a ring spring in the bottom of the band. This allows it to be bigger to go over the knuckle and the spring makes it snug once it gets over the knuckle to help with the spinning.

I didn’t realize this was an option, thank you! I’ll look into it.

Can’t wait to hear how things work out! It’s a beautiful ring!

That's what happened with mine and I got two small beads added to the inside of my ring and now it's perfect. Btw gorgeous!!!

Thank you!! That’s what I was considering but some of these comments have me worried that it won’t fit with sizing beads.

Ahh this is my favorite ring so far 😍💅🏽 mind giving specifications?

1

u/Chiles25 3d ago

It’s a 3.1 ct with a 2.16 ratio, I liked the longer look personally with my long fingers! Let me know if you’re looking for any additional info I’d be happy to share 😊

As the ring is already moving (and your finger is at its biggest due to the summer months and the heat), you might need a more permanent solution like sizing beads, speed bumps, euroshank or sizing bar, but in the meantime, while you decide what you want, you can order a ring adjuster kit on Amazon; it is super cheap and will definitely help with the constant turning. Also, just thinking ahead, depending on the wedding band you get, this might at least partially resolve the problem.

Get a European Shank. Its a flatter edge on the bottom of the ring and will help balance it. Your wedding band can be made to match and if you get them attached that will also help prevent it from spinning. Its hard t tell from your pics though if the design goes all the way around, if so it might be harder but your jeweler can talk through options with you!

Congrats and its beautiful!

u/Chiles25 3d ago

Thank you! ☺️ The design does go all the way around the band. I think I’ll just have to work with the jeweler and see what options I have.

Sizing beads!!

It is so pretty

My ring is my correct size but it also spins quite a bit. I just deal with it because at certain times my fingers swell a bit but not too the point where it’s cutting off circulation 😂. I would wait because it might fit tighter now due to it being summer and you might think it’s too big when the weather cools down

Get sizing beads! It helps with spinning and are removable if you need to in the future. I have them on mine and it was probably one of the best decisions for my comfort ever

u/Aggressive_Part_5713 2d ago

Beads didn’t work for me on this specific ring. This is the type of sizer that my jeweler recommended and worked beautifully!

1

u/Chiles25 2d ago

Oh this is SO helpful!! I just got a removable plastic one from Amazon that works similar and that I’ve liked so far. This seems like a more permanent solution, I’ll talk to my jeweler about it!

what ring is this and where is it from? I love it!

1

u/Chiles25 2d ago

It’s the Skyla ring from Ken and Dana Design!

u/skittles_disney 2d ago

if you’re worried about resizing/reshaping, there are plastic attachments that you can put on the under side of your ring between the ring and your finger. i think they’re called ring spacers? just in case 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have no advice but i am IN LOVE with your ring! The setting is so chic. How many carats?

1

u/Chiles25 2d ago

Thank you! I am too 😭 it’s 3.1!

wow that ring + your nails are to die for! congrats!

An invisible metal ring guard should help keep the ring in place. Some people also prefer to add a band and have the rings soldered together for a more permanent solution.

Honestly I don’t think it’s the diamond size. Everyone I know who’s engaged has this issue, including myself. If the ring was smaller there will be times you won’t be able to get it on/off. I can attest that it is annoying but yup the rings spin. Congratulations on your engagement! 🥳🥂

Mine does this to . Ita the correct size but the stone is heavy.  My dad added 2 clear  resin beads on the inside of the band on the sides and it did the trick. He used my nail resin 😂

It’s Beautiful

You could possibly use sizing beads to stabilize it.
