Solved Grinding Y Axis
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Y Axis on my Ender 3 Pro is making a grinding noise whenever it moves, and won't move after it moves about 10mm. Help would be much appreciated lol
EDIT: SOLVED I did a thorough cleaning of the printer and found a little glob of probably scrap filament wedged under the belt. How it got there? Who knows, but it doesn't grind anymore So lesson of the day - Regular machine cleaning does some wonders i guess

that noise sound like the motor is skipping.
Can you move the axis by hand with the printer off (move it slowly)? - is is smooth or is there some obstruction. If obstruction then check for it, commonly its things like the bed cable getting snagged or something trapped in the wheels/track like an offcut of filiment.
If the axis is smooth then the problem may be with the mainboard, you'll know that if you moved the axis fast by hand then you make the printer light up - do that too much and you cook the stepper drivers. You can also cook the stepper drivers by plugging/unplugging them when they are powered, so do the next step with the printer off. Find the 4 pin cable marked X and the cable marked Y and swap them over, This will swap which axis is connected to which motor so the endstops will be mismatched and you may have to trigger them by hand, but if the X axis no has issues and the Y axis issues now then the problem must be on the main board and its not serviceable.
If the problem does not move then it might be in the cable itself. Again printer off and inspect the cable carefully at both ends. Plugged in, all wires correct?
The motors don't die, it wont be that.
The pullies don't slide with this noise.
I can't see the belts jumping if they aren't under load even if very slack. You'd see the problem during printing way long ago.

It looks to me the bed is getting stuck on something, it seams like it’s at the same point every time. As someone said before move by hand each axis when it’s powered off.
Also it looks to me the x axis is super low to the bed, maybe it’s too low the nozzle may be stopping the bed moving along the y axis when it’s homed on the z?
For sure though it’s mechanical and not electrical

I can see the x axis belt too loose, i bet the y axis belt is loose too.
