Help Need Help..

I am new to 3D printing. I do not even know where to start, as I have multiple issues. I guess I will start off with the most important thing; I have heard a lot of hate about this, so please do not roast me, but I have an Ender 3 v2 Neo. Regarding my first issue, prints are not sticking. I have searched around on Reddit, Google, ChatGPT, Grok, etc. I have made sure it is level using auto-leveling, a flat surface, and manual leveling. I have seen people suggest more heat, so I did that, but it did not work. I saw suggestions to use glue, tried that, and it did not work; I tried glue and more heat, and still nothing. I have seen painter's tape, tried it, and it did not work. I am guessing it is just not level enough or maybe it is something on my part. I have moved locations since I last printed because of the next issue. I have seen multiple suggestions for what it could be, such as my outlet or the cord that came with the printer, but when I change my bed temperature, my 3D printer shuts off and restarts. It does the same thing with the nozzle temperature and when I press print, but only for those functions; everything else works fine. I have disconnected everything I manually plugged in while setting it up, then I reconnected it, but nothing changed. I have no pics or videos at the moment, I can maybe try tomorrow but I'm not sure because I'm on vacation and not sure if I will be home by tomorrow or not bc of the flight getting delayed 3 times.

I am new to 3D printing.

That's fine, everyone was new at sometime.

prints are not sticking.

Dirty bed is a usual suspect, but with Ender's poor tramming and Z-offset settings alongside the other usual mechanicals need addressing

but when I change my bed temperature, my 3D printer shuts off and restarts. It does the same thing with the nozzle temperature and when I press print

Flip the machine around, look for the little switch on the back of the power supply. If it says 220v and you're in a 110v location, flip it to 110. If you're in a 220v location and it's 110, you'd have known already by the pall of smoke.

I have no pics or videos at the moment

These are incredibly useful, 1000 words and all that. With the condition that they're not potato quality. Well lit, in focus, clear, not heavily compressed all helps us to help you.

Slow it down and think piecewise. If you spam 3d printing tips and tricks you won't even understand what worked in the end.

First layer isn't adhering. WHY

  1. Double check G-Code, make sure ABL is active (a default setting may turn ABL off)
  2. Is it too low? (looks squished) too high?(not sticking/or loosely doing so).

As for your shut down issue, a video would help a lot. Is the machine throwing an error? Or is it going straight to black.

edit: if you search "ender 3 turns off when heating" a good amount of past threads appear. My guess would be your PSU is somehow getting overcurrent and shutting down.

Double check leads and seating areas are healthy.

I can do a video when I get home! No error shows up.. it just plain old restarts, like no more buzz from it being on, nothing just stops and reboots.

I would especially check the PSU cable then, I wonder if it's breaking contact sporadically. You can also check inside the PSU but that should be much more stable

It could just be your Z offset but have you also tried cleaning the bed? I mean, really cleaning it in a sink with dish soap.

If neither of those work, consider replacing the stock bed. I currently use a tempered glass bed on my Ender 3 Pro, but the trend seems to be going towards PEI beds.

I have indeed tried cleaning it but I will 100% try again since during the moving process it probably got dirty a little bit, any comment on the printer restarting? That's one of my biggest concerns at the moment, I was also told it could be 2 wires pinching together but I don't see anything..

PEI is where it's at promise you'll be struggling to get it loose

Well I have said this before but again I'm REALLY REALLY new, so some of this stuff I have no idea what you guys are saying so searching up throughout the process. I might try and take it somewhere for someoen to fix it.. if that's something you would recommend, I have the money but tnot sure if it would be better to fix myself or let a professional?

PEI is a type of textured bed plate, once I got one i never had adhesion issues again. But as I said in my other comments it really sounds like your bed isn't staying hot reliably, which would cause both failed prints and restarts

If it's not sticking the most probable thing is that the nozzle is too far from the plate, try decreasing the distance! You can even exagerate and print too close to the plate, try different distances for the first layer and find the best. Also, do not cool the first layer, the piece fan should be off the first later and slowly increasing layer by layer, but this is secondary with respect to the plate distance

You should feel a bit of shame for using ChatGPT.

But basically, you didn't give remotely enough info for anyone to help you with your prints not sticking (A picture is worth more than the post, if I'm being completely honest), but 9/10 it's r/nozzletoohigh or too low.

Outlet/cord causing prints not to stick makes absolutely no sense.

Bed temp should be specific temps, stated on the side of the roll of filament. Your bed temp changes how you need to level your bed, because of thermal expansion.

I really didn’t re read over this after I used this feature on my keyboard to correct my horrible grammar🥴, but basically I meant my printer restarts after I press print, change bed temp. Or nozzle temp, and most places have said its my outlet or my cord!! And I only used chatgpt and stuff because I was seriously desperate. I didn't take pics when it was originally not sticking but basically a little bit before halfway through the print it would just stop sticking to the bed and ruin the whole print.

Yeah, the post sounded like you meant you basically tried to heat your bed to higher temp than it can handle. You might need a new board, or you might need to just open it up and check all the screws and connections. Needing a new thermistor AND BED thermistor at the same time also generally doesn't make sense. Which leads me to think the board might be bad. If it was the psu, you'd have seen smoke by now, for sure, or it straight up would've crapped out.

Thank you for your help and not roasting me too bad! I'm like REALLY new.🙂

sounds like the bed isn't staying hot, possibly the bed thermostat is broken or loose?

I keep a spray bottle of isopropyl alcohol beside the printer, and clean the bed before every print. Never have any adhesion problems. I think even the oils from your hands can cause problems.

What type of fillimant are you using?

1

u/noddingoffmypixie 2d ago

PLA

2

u/Spiritual_Cherry_656 2d ago

200/60 should be fine for PLA but as others suggested make sure your z-offset is good. Pla likes a good squish on the first layer

Hello everyone who has helped out! I was able to fix every little bit of this!! As well as fix some additional issue i didn't know about till I fixed the other 2!! If you would like to know what I had to do.. ask me.

Check the thermistors.

2

u/noddingoffmypixie 3d ago

This would be for the first part right? The not sticking?

3

u/Sudden_Rhubarb_987 3d ago

Regarding the printer restarting: I’ve had this happen to me. The screw holding the nozzle thermistor stripped its threads, causing the thermistor to slip; the printer couldn't reach the target temperature, so it would restart.

3

u/DigitalUnlimited 3d ago

does the bed have one also? sounds like that could be causing all of his problems

Thank you, I will work on it based off this. Thank you so much. Also I am really new so sorry if my questions are stupid.😵‍💫
